Alysia Montaño Alysia attended Canyon High School in Santa Clarita, CA where she became a multi sport standout in basketball, soccer, and athletics. Under Tony Sandoval at the University of California Berkeley, is where Alysia will become the 800m specialist she is today. In 2007 as a junior, Alysia recorded the best season in Cal Berkeley history finishing undefeated and claiming both the indoor and outdoor NCAA titles as well as her first USA Championship title. Heading into the 2008 season, Alysia was ranked #1 in the USA and she was more focused then ever to make the Olympic team. Rounding out her senior year coupled with intense training, the pressure began to take a toll on Alysia and, throughout the indoor and outdoor season, a stress fracture formed in her navicular bone and finally gave in at the 2008 Olympic Trials.

She attended Dartmouth where she was an NCAA All American in indoor 3000m, 5000m, and the steeplechase as well as the Ivy League champion in the steeplechase. She became a citizen of Greece in 2016, and represented the country in the 2016 Olympic Games where she set the national record in the 10000m in 31:36.16. He joined Minnesota's KARE 11 in November of 1996 as a sports reporter and in 2012 was named weeknight sports anchor and sports director at KARE. As a sports reporter, Perkins gained much attention with "Perk at Play." Created in the winter of 1997, the hands-on segment gave Perk a chance to try everything from ski-jumping to bullfighting, from driving a car in a demolition derby to playing baseball for the St. Paul Saints, just to name a few.
