For All You Kids Out There

In Episode 74 of For All You Kids Out There we put our second season of Mets podcasting in the books, and this one was...not as fun. Both on-field, which we cover by going over all 52 players on the 2017 Mets, but also off-field as you may now be aware if you have been even vaguely paying attention. So we talk about the end of the Terry Collins era, future Mets managerial candidates, and the schism between ownership, front office, and the field staff. The Mets didn't have the worst week in the NL East though, and we also discuss the Atlanta front office scandal that unfolded in large part while we were actually recording.In the second half of the show we are joined by David Roth of Deadspin to discuss Jonathan Franzen novels (sort of), Todd Frazier local car dealership ads (obviously), and the Im/Ex Bank (yes, really).In the third half of ths show we answer your correspondence as briefly as possible, but not as briefly as Jarrett hoped.

In Episode 73 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey displays the bare minimum of fiduciary responsibility, Jarrett swoons over J.D. Martinez, neither of us sticks to sports, and Craig talks about his two favorite teams. There's also a long wrestling segment, but not as long as last week.

In Episode 72 of For All You Kids Out There, like the Mets we are playing out the string. Also like the Mets is takes us three hours to finish the job. In the first half of the show, Jeffrey and Jarrett chat about a Thor sequel we aren't really looking forward to, make some offseason plans, and discuss the latest revered Met feuding with the team. In the second half of the show we are joined by Meg Rowley to talk about fandom, "our guys," and how this all changes in your thirties. Then in the third half of the show we answer your e-mails, riff for a while on Shohei Otani, and indulge in a very long pro wrestling segment.

In Episode 71, Jeffrey and Jarrett have an easy, laidback show: Under two hours with no guests, a lot of reliever prospects, and way too much talking about the Survivor Series main event. How many more weeks of Mets baseball are there? Well, we will be here for all of them I guess. 

In Episode 70 of For All You Kids Out There, the Mets season is limping to the finish, but the podcast soldiers on. Not before spending the first 15 minutes debating where Luis Guillorme will land on the 2018 Mets Top Ten Prospects list though. There is still plenty of time for This Week in Matt Harvey, 40-man call-ups, Jeffrey's baseball playing hipster twin, and Tim Tebow. In the second half of the show we talk about the AL Wild Card race with Mariners fan and Our Good Friend Meg Rowley, who is much less excited about Gabriel Ynoa's call-up than Jeffrey is. Then in the third half of the show we answer your e-mails and somehow discuss Dom Smith again, two weeks after Jeffrey said there wasn't a real need to check back in on him for a bit.

In Episode 69 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett try to have a nice show, but it's been a not nice week of Mets news. We chat about more injuries and This Week in Matt Harvey before bringing on a very special guest to properly celebrate the occasion. Then we answer your correspondence, briefly become a Phillies prospect podcast again, and wrap up with some Mayweather/McGregor chat.

In Episode 68 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey's evening went awry, and the podcast followed soon after. Nevertheless, Jarrett and he discuss more waiver trades, more pitcher injuries, and some scouting philosophies before inviting our good friend Nick Stellini on to ambush him with a BP Annual comment and also chat about the more successful New York team. Then we wrap things up with your correspondence and some Summerslam weekend thoughts.

In Episode 67 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett are back in separate rooms to talk about the Mets August waiver trades and accompanying New York GM pissing contest. Then we chat about the Dom Smith callup and the Yankees Wild Card game strategy for some reason, before wrapping up the first half of the show with the weeks in Amed Rosario and Matt Harvey. Then it is a very long e-mail segment where we get sidtracked even worse and a very long wrestling segment. Normal service has resumed. Even down to the dodgy technical issues.

In Episode 66 of For All You Kids Out There, we are in Boston for SaberSeminar so after a night of cocktails it is time to podcast about the Mets with friends. Jeffrey doesn't screw up recording it this year, but does underestimate how sleepy we all were going to be after a night out at Lion's Tail and Eastern Standard. Nevertheless, Jeffrey, Jarrett, Kate Morrison, Skyler Kanfer, and Matt Yaspan discuss Amed Rosario's first week in the majors, when Dom Smith will arrive in Queens, the very exciting August 31 waiver trade deadline, the state of the Mets system, and answer a bunch of questions from you, the listener.

In Episode 65 of For All You Kids Out There, we are back in high...well, medium-fidelity to talk about the Mets trade deadline experience. Do you like relievers? Because we are mostly talking about relievers. We also take a closer look at the Sonny Gray and Yu Darvish deals, access the current state of the Mets farm system, and answer your questions on Michael Conforto, Pete Alonso, and Tim Tebow.

So we probably should have re-recorded the first and third halves of this, and the second half got cut short by Jeffrey's laptop dying again, but...we didn't.

In Episode 63 of For All You Kids Out There Jeffrey takes you on a tour of fine New York City Cocktail bars before we can even get into the meat of the show. But in the first half, we talk the trade market and recent Mets trade rumors and who the real clubhouse cancer is on the 2017 Mets. In the second half of the show, our good friend David Roth returns to chat about crushing blows to neoliberalism, sports talk radio, Manny's of Moonachie, philanthropy, and Jason Jordan Angle.In the third half of the show, we answer your correspondence and live chat the Zack Sabre jr/Hiroshi Tanahashi G1 match.

In Episode 62 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett "preview" the "second half" of the "baseball" season. The first half ambles a bit and we recorded it Monday night and honestly I don't remember much of what is in it. In the second half of the show we chat with Craig Goldstein about our Midseason Top 50 prospect list over at the mothership. In the third half of the show we answer your emails (again in some cases) and talk to Brady about the pro wrestling. For an hour. They say records are made to be broken. The record for longest episode of this podcast probably shouldn't keep getting broken though.

In Episode 61 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett discuss seltzer preferences, recap Citi Field Day, debate if the Mets will be playing meaningful games in September, and make the case for Travis d'Arnaud. In the second half of the show we talk about the midseason Mets prospect list (while ending up talking about Phillies prospects again somehow), examine the short season roster, and talk about Jeffrey's recent Binghamton look. In the third half of the show, we really did answer your correspondence and talk to Brady about G1, but then something happened...

In Episode 60 of For All You Kids Out There, it is just never a slow news week in Flushing is it? After a digression about Jeffrey's wedding (mostly winery) excursion in Virginia, we dive right in to the Asdrubal Cabrera kerfluffle. There may be some rants. We also hash out Michael Conforto's playing time, Zack Wheeler's injury and Jacob deGrom's return to form, before wrapping up with some thoughts on Dan Warthen, pitching coach.In the second half of the show, there is actual Mets analysis as we look towards the Mets trade deadline strategy and discuss minor league promotions.In the third half of the show, there isn't much correspondence. this week, so we plug the BP Citi Field Day one last time and preview the G1 Climax instead. 

In Episode 59 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett are coming to you from Baltimore. At least for the first half of the show where we blearily cover another spate of Mets injuries, the return of Yoenis Cespedes, a reflective This Week in Matt Harvey, and the Lucas Duda free agent conundrum. In the second half of the show we are joined by Skyler Kanfer of BP Mets to discuss the 2017 Mets draft class.In the third half of the show we answer your e-mails and go over first half storylines in the Mets minors. 

In Episode 58 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey had a long day at the park and a long drive back so he allows Jarrett to do the heavy lifting. Jarrett has been mad online about the Mets this week, and hoo boy does he extrapolate on why in the first half of the show. We also discuss prospects we have seen recently and spend two minutes previewing Monday night's draft. In the second half of the show we are joined by Kate Morrison to supposedly talk about the Rangers, but mostly end up talking about the Cubs, we guess? Oh, and Brewers prospects.In the third half of the show we answer your correspondence and spend roughly forty minutes discussing Kenny Omega vs Kachuzika Okada and its wider implications.

In Episode 57 of For All You Kids Out There, a simple question from one host to another ends up with Jarrett trying to trade every Met. We also chat about Wilmer Flores, the 2012 draft, and the Mets bullpen...again. In the second half of the show, David Roth of Vice Sports is here to make sure the show fully goes off the rails, and we wrap up with your Facebook questions and a description of two very long wrestling shows. 

In Episode 56 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey takes a call from "Jarrett on the car phone" on his way back from seeing the 17th best prospect in baseball, and we discuss Terry Collins' circle of trust, Tyler Pill's debut, where the Mets are and where they are going, Bryce Harper's helmet toss, and Mike Trout's thumb. Then we take your e-mails on Raphael Ramirez and Andrew McCutchen and your Facebook queries mostly about Michael Conforto.

In Episode 55 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett catch up with some of the Mets we haven't discussed so far in the 2017 season. We have discussed the rotation a lot, but we will be doing it again. We also have the briefest This Week in Matt Harvey ever and chat about Mike Trout.In the second half of the show, we are joined by Craig Goldstein to check in on the machinations in the minors, contemplate Gleybermania, and swoon about Juan Soto. Plus, Craig talks about tango.In the third half of the show we answer your correspondence, and end up spending a half hour talking about Backlash after Jeffrey said we weren't going to talk about Backlash in our last episode.
