Synopsis

This is the podcast that gives you permission to design your best life. Life Design is the practice of thinking and actively pursuing the lifestyle you want. Life is short, we all know that, so why compromise? Were Lucy and Ross Menghini, married, entrepreneurs and travelling the world all at the same time. There was a moment in our lives when we decided to take action rather than imagine. A decision that has lead to more freedom and fulfilment than we ever would have achieved in our 9-5s.In this podcast we share it all the struggles weve faced and the lessons weve learned. We open up our diaries and dive honestly into topics like: starting and running an online business from anywhere, investing to provide passive income, digital nomad life, e-commerce, 4 hour work week inspired actions and mindset tips. Our mission is clear: to help you realise just how much control you have, and to inspire you to design and pursue the life you want.

Having left his job years ago to pursue this new path, Matthew has firsthand experience of the ups and downs that come with self employment.  In this episode, we discuss many of the areas that aren’t often told. Struggles with mental health, imposter syndrome, clients, companionship and more. These are all such important topics, especially when you step into the uncertain path of self employment. I say this because going it alone brings a whole host of questions, choices and challenges. The so called ‘freedom’ that comes with working independently can very often lead to overwhelm, uncertainty and difficulty and we discuss our experiences of all these during this conversation. • #48 Psychotherapist Rachel Tillman | Wholesome & Meaningful Living

    05/12/2018 Duration: 01h02min

I feel strange.  I'm not quite as busy as I could be, and it's giving me more time for chats and side projects, but I'm feeling like I am not really doing anything productive.  Why are we so tuned to feel like doing paid work is productive, but doing exploration, investment in yourself and future-facing work is less important? If it was anyone else, i'd be telling them to embrace the quiet times, and make best use of it... but following your own advice is far harder than dishing it out. That was the LinkedIn post I stumbled across which lead me to todays guest.  I didn’t write this post, and neither did she, but it was her answer to this post, addressing this situation of feeling unproductive when focussing on yourself that got me fascinated into how she thinks. Rachel Tillman is a psychotherapist, she helps people and organisations, successfully navigate change as they work toward wholeness and more meaningful engagement. She uses creative, refreshing, and honest ways to do this and believes work should be l

    26/11/2018 Duration: 08min

If we feel bad when comparing ourselves to others, then we should simply stop comparing... Sound advice yes, but often a lot harder to do than the ‘simply’ suggests. The Will Smith Effect is a concept I’ve created after mulling over this scenario for the past few months. It’s a different approach and I’d love to hear if you agree/disagree. Well, when The Primal Pantry, a Paleo brand on a mission to start a real-food revolution, slipped from the heights of growing a £1.7m turnover business in only 3 years, to running out of cash and having to take a significant loan from an employee, this mantra of ‘what's the worst that can happen’ would surely have taken on a whole new meaning. Welcome back to Life Design Diaries, I’m Lucy Menghini and on this episode I’m speaking with Suzie Walker, founder of the Primal Pantry.
