This is a recording of our third webinar which we did on the 7th April 2020. With Joanna Bailey editor at SimpleFlying, the world´s largest aviation news website, Chloe Greenbank, editor at Regional Gateway, the only media portfolio dedicated exclusively to regional, business and secondary airports, Dirk Singer – Head of Sustainability at SimpliFlying the world´s leading airline marketing strategy firm, Max Oldorf, Chief Commercial Officer at Ch-aviation, an influential airline intelligence provider and as they say, one of the very few Swiss aviation success stories we tried to take a look on the silver lining of the covid19 impact on aviation industry. The whole supply chain is going through something nobody has ever seen before. However, there are also lessons of inspiration, optimism and resilience which our wonderful speakers shared on the webinar.

This is a recording of our second webinar which we did on the 31st March 2020. With Enzo Zangrilli (senior aviaton consultant and and owner at 1aviation consulting) and Aurimas Stikliunas (Head of Aviation Services at Lithuanian Airports) we discussed the situation from the airports perspective as they suffer a lot, too. We tried to look on the days after, how airports can prepare for the world after the lockdowns and what will be crucial for the recovery of air traffic. This is a recording of our first webinar which we did on the 24th March with John Grant, aviation consultant and partner at Midas Aviation and Jeremy Robinson,  partner at Watson Farley and Williams, specialist on EU & competition law and aviation law. Airlines all over the world are in extremely difficult position following the covid19 outbreak and extraordinary capacity reduction all over the world and they are in need for massive support. On the webinar we discussed how, when and to what extent this support can be potentially granted in Europe and how the industry might look like when the time of Covid19 is over.

This is our episode 65 and today we´d like to promote our 2nd podcast which is called AviaDev Weekly News. We started with this in November 2019 and each week we invite industry experts to comment on the hot news from the world of aviation from the respective week. Stefan is passionate aviation enthusiast and he was chosen to join us in Valencia as one of our ambassadors at AviaDev Europe 2019. As such he had the opportunity to present his thoughts in front of the industry professionals and Stefan shares with me today how it felt like. We discussed also the challenges and opportunities for the aviation market in Stefan´s home country – Romania and, very important, Stefan is now looking for an internship for upcoming summer, so if there´s anyone listening in position to offer Stefan an internship at an airport or airline, it would be fantastic.

My guest today is Becca Rowland, AviaDev´s friend from MIDAS Aviation, with whom we created AviaDev Consult. The reason we had Becca on again is that recently she published a very interesting article outlining couple of European regional airlines and their business models in comparison with Flybe, which is obviously still going through a difficult time. Becca also shared with us her thoughts on the future of regional airlines in Europe and what they need to do if they want to be around in 5 years time.

I met Simona in Dubai at Global Investment Aviation Summit. Global population is becoming more and more aware about the climate change, many people say we are the last generation that can do something in order to prevent irreversible changes in the climate. And aviation found itself in the centre of this debate, even though it produces just around 2,5% of global CO2 emissions. We´ll take a close look into this topic with Dirk Singer, who´s author of Airline Marketing Monthly Magazine and its December issue was titled the Flight Shaming Special. It´s just the beginning of the year and the industry has already confirmed its turbulent nature where change is the only constant. Less than a year after being bought British regional airline Flybe found itself on the edge of collapse. Eventually it was saved by the government but the whole story can´t be considered to be ended. With industry expert John Grant, partner at Midas Aviation that is the engine behind AviaDev Consult, we discussed not just Flybe and its fate, but we also took a closer look at the full picture and John very openly shared his opinions on the UK Aviation Strategy.

We have a special Xmas episode today and my guest is my dear friend and a proud member of AviaDev team, John Barcroft. We recorded this podcast on board of Eurowings flight from DUS to MAN, as we were on our way to AviaDev team meeting in Manchester where most of the team is based. In this episode John will share with you his personal aviation story, how he became part of AviaDev family and what he hates and loves about working with us.

In this episode we had a lovely chat with Jonas van Dorp, Head of Aviation Marketing & Development at Groningen Airport. Jonas shared with us their story and despite many challenges they have to face as a small regional airport, Jonas remains optimistic and he is working very hard together with the community around the airport to develop so much needed connectivity to Groningen.

Maija Eklöf has a great deal of experience from her work within the aviation industry and now she is a Director of Aviation, Business, Sales & marketing Programmes, Head of Porvoo Campus at Haaga Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland. Maija shared with us her very inspiring aviation journey, she gave some very good advice to young people who are thinking about a career in aviation and she also shared her thoughts about regional aviation and the sustainability of the industry.

It was a true pleasure to talk to a friend and one of the greatest supporters of AviaDev, Enzo Zangrilli, the Commercial Director Aviation and Non Aviation Development at Trieste Airport. MIDAS Aviation produced another great piece of analysis for our community where they reveal several very interesting facts and figures about the aircraft types used in Europe. In our discussion with Becca we particularly looked closer on the share of turboprops and their value for the European regional markets which is many times underestimated.
