Formed in 2019, Heathersett—comprised of Craigan Hogeland (vocals/bass), Juergie Landstrom (vocals/guitar), Andy Torrey (guitar), and Zack Mulazzi (drums)—simply want to write music they have fun playing and to perform that music as loud and as often as possible. Blending influences that range from the punk and alternative sounds of the 90s and 00s, the Georgian quartet will not rest until their songs are securely stuck in your head for decades to come, and that can definitely be found in their newest single, Anchorage. • Episode 107 - Tarek Jafar of The Blue Stones

    16/04/2021 Duration: 01h07min

The Blue Stones released their sophomore album, Hidden Gems on March 19th via Entertainment One. For the album they had the opportunity to work with producer Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots), who led the band to explore and create music in a different way than they had before, as well as approach and tackle lyrics in an entirely new light. While making the album, Tarek learned confidence and strength-of-self not only in his personal lives but in the lyrics he penned through expressing acceptance of his flaws and growth from heartbreak, which also translated into taking more musical risks. When Jafar and Justin Tessier (drums/vocals) formed The Blue Stones, they were facing uncertainty about who they were individually. What they did know for sure, though, was that they wanted to make music together - and, so they did. Following the success of their debut album, Black Holes, the band quickly found a following in the alternative rock world that led to them sharing the stage with the likes of grandson, We

  • Episode 105 - Blue Water Highway

    26/03/2021 Duration: 01h09min

Blue Water Highway comes from the working class, coastal town background that has informed the work of so many of rock’s greatest writers and artists. They take their name from the roadway that links their hometown of Lake Jackson, Texas to Galveston, where the cops, the teachers, the baristas and the chemical plant workers travel to work hard and to play hard, blowing off steam, dancing to their favorite bands. Blue Water Highway’s music is the soundtrack for their lives. They are currently celebrating their newest album release Paper Airplanes, where they tackled the struggles of balancing the freedom and whimsy of childhood with the responsibility and discipline of adulthood. Blue Water Highway was started by two best friends from high school - Zack Kibodeaux (lead vocals, guitar) and Greg Essington (guitar). They were later joined by Catherine Clark (keyboards) and Kyle James Smith (bass). Thank you for listening! • Episode 102 - Mobley

    05/03/2021 Duration: 01h11min

“[Mobley] didn’t expect to be putting out a guitar record in 2021,” says Mobley of his latest work, Young & Dying in the Occident Supreme. “For a while, I was writing songs using the whole studio as my inspiration. Oddly enough, it was coming home to the confines of the guitar that opened everything up for me.” Perhaps it’s fitting that he had to go to the other side of the world to “come home.” The singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist hangs his hat in Austin, TX, but after an itinerant childhood spent in more than a dozen cities across the globe, a guitar is as much a home as any spot on the map. Mobley wrote the record, Young & Dying in the Occident Supreme, as a sonic critique of Western supremacy, a theme he felt even more urgently while not in the United States. He recorded the majority of the guitar lines in an apartment on a remote island in the Gulf of Thailand, then, in one last moment of inspiration, gifted the instrument to a local cab driver he’d befriended. • Episode 93 - Cold Weather Kids

    01/01/2021 Duration: 01h41min

Cold Weather Kids, based out of Los Angeles, CA, began as a passion project between Adam Allison and Ryan Scottie. The two had met while attending college in Chicago in the early 2010s and instantly formed a lifelong friendship. That friendship would take them to Los Angeles in 2016 where Adam would begin working in recording at Revolution 9 Studios.
It was at Rev 9 Recording where Adam met Erik Williams, who became the drummer after previous projects dissolved.
The name Cold Weather Kids was inspired by the three upbringings of the members, as all three grew up in places with a cold climate: Michigan, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Following their debut EP "Songs We Can't Finish" which dropped August of 2020, the band followed up by raising the bar with "Quarantunes" a three song EP made from the time spent inside working remotely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The EP was written and recorded remotely and then sent to producer Nick Radovanovic (Grandson, Mister Wives, Stand Atlantic) for that mixing magic that on

  • Episode 92 - Eric and Kevin of Floorbird

    18/12/2020 Duration: 01h49min

There’s something special about being able to create in the midst of a crisis. It’s like a rose growing out of a crack in the sidewalk: unexpected and beautiful. Somewhere between the hours of Animal Crossing and wondering what day it is, a Philadelphian indie/emo band called Floorbird was born. For Eric Reavey, Kevin Folk, Drew Grahn, and Tom Brucker, this project has been over a year in the making - meticulously mapping out melodies, tirelessly recording and creating videos entirely in-house. Having already released the single “I’m Not Nervous,” with accompanying lyric and live videos that have accrued thousands of plays between social media platforms, and spending months refining their tone and style at their home studios, their efforts have all culminated in their EP, Fall Apart Anywhere. With plenty of pop sensibility to sing along to, their debut isn’t all comfort food: in 26 minutes, there’s more about mental illness, loss and intrusive thoughts than love. But, in a time of profound separation, it’s a
