Episodes

  • NBA Bubble Day 70: Nuggets Klaw Back to Game 7, Celtics Win a War & the End of Microball?

    14/09/2020 Duration: 43min

Back from a week off the tools, the boys finally get to discuss the incredible comeback of the Nuggets on the Clippers, argue intensely over the quality of Celtics/Raptors and decide whether microball should just be another passing fad.

  • NBA Bubble Day 56: Jamal Murray vs. Donovan Mitchell & Where do the Raptors Turn?

    31/08/2020 Duration: 32min

Jamal Murray is going where no man has gone... at least since 1993 when Michael Jordan last scored 40+ in 3 straight playoff (Finals, in his case) games. Can Donovan Mitchell take the series in Game 7 though? And how do the Raptors adjust after struggling so much against the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals?

  • NBA Bubble Day 50: The Conference Semi Finals are Drawing Ever Closer & The Myth of Playoff P

    26/08/2020 Duration: 55min

And just like that, we're left with what might only be two real series' left in the first round of the playoffs. Luka's Mavericks are testing the Clippers' mettle, while CP3 is getting awful close to knocking out his old Rockets squad. Conference semi's are up next, and they look impossible to pick.

  • NBA Bubble Day 43: The Playoffs are Underway!

    20/08/2020 Duration: 51min

The NBA Playoffs have officially begun! One day in, but no shortage of classic moments, Donovan Mitchell went off for 57, KP got the softest ejection of the year, and the Trail Blazers have kept their hot streak rolling!

  • NBA Bubble Day 35: Dame is Heating Up, Ben Simmons Needs Surgery & the Playoffs are Looming

    11/08/2020 Duration: 45min

If there's anything that we've learned from the NBA bubble so far, it's that we probably never really knew anything in the first place. This season began with arguably the most parity the league has seen in at least a decade. After months of the regular season, we would've liked to think we were getting a better idea of who would end up coming out on top. This past week has demonstrated otherwise.

  • NBA Bubble Day 29: The Season is Officially Back on Track

    05/08/2020 Duration: 51min

As expected, teams like the Lakers & Clippers have come into the bubble ready to play. What's exciting is the perceived tier of squads below them that have also turned up firing, and potentially even more so. Do the Raptors and Rockets have anything to say about who's going to take home the chip?

  • NBA Bubble Day 21 : Players are Playing Real Basketball Against Each Other

    27/07/2020 Duration: 50min

Lou Williams quarantined for eating lunch, Domantas Sabonis untimely foot injury, Tom Thibodeau signs a 5 year deal to coach the Knicks and 5 whole days of gloooorious NBA scrimmage basketball to dissect.

  • 2019/20 NBA Awards Extravaganza

    21/07/2020 Duration: 01h16min

This week, the NBA announced that the eight upcoming playoff seeding games will have no implications on the traditional end of season awards. Considering this means that we've seen all we need to in order to decide our very own 2020 Backdoor Cut Awardies, it's time to crown some winners.

  • Backdoor Cut from Home: The Players Have Entered the Bubble

    16/07/2020 Duration: 55min

After another spell on the sidelines, Jake, Josh & Batey are back, only in extremely unfamiliar surroundings... their homes. Forced into separation for the very first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the boys break down all things NBA bubble, and touch on the teams who weren't quite fortunate enough to get the invite.

  • Return From The Pandemic: The Last Dance & The Greatest Duos in NBA History

    05/06/2020 Duration: 58min

With the NBA on hold and most of the world in lockdown due to COVID-19, Backdoor Cut was forced to take a brief hiatus. Now back from a few months apart, Jake, Josh & Batey embrace for a discussion around The Last Dance documentary series, and the greatest 1-2 punches in NBA history. We would also like to express our regret that this episode was recorded just before the recent death of George Floyd and the ensuing Black Lives Matter protests right across the world, as we would have absolutely used this opportunity to highlight some of the phenomenal expressions of solidarity our NBA community is showing right now. Systematic racism and oppression against people of colour is an issue which our team is extremely passionate about, and it is of the utmost importance to us that we stand up for and support any and all PoC being unfairly oppressed, both overseas and in our own backyard of Australia. Each and every episode of Backdoor Cut has been recorded on traditional Cammeraygal land, and we would like to acknow

  • Remembering Kobe Bryant

    02/02/2020 Duration: 47min

A few short days ago, Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and 7 other passengers including, teammates, parents, coaches and a pilot, passed away in a tragic helicopter crash. Kobe was a source of inspiration to the entire basketball community throughout his legendary career, and as we’ve come to see in the past few days, the whole world at large. We haven’t merely lost one of the game’s greats, but a cultural titan. His passing was truly shocking, and the gaping hole of a Kobe-less world has only really started to show - perhaps sadder still, a Gianna-less world, one in which she would potentially inspire the female sporting community just as her father did from the moment he announced himself to the masses. May both the Mamba, Mambacita and all those lost in this tragedy forever rest in peace.
