    With Brooklyn being the home to heavy hitters in the rap game, there’s no doubt that great artistry comes from this particular borough in New York City. Vaughn Jefferson also known as Buddha Chief is an artist and entrepreneur who understands cultural significance when it comes to his music and work. In the 1980’s during the peak of the crack era, it was important for young black males not to become a product of their environment. Buddha Chief was raised by his mother and grandmother, but hip hop always surrounded him as a kid. He was brought up on the same block as one of his hip hop inspirations Big Daddy Kane. Vaughn even curated a mural of Big Daddy Kane on the building where he once lived which he signed in approval. He plans to carry on tradition like other famous artists from the Bed Stuy community started and to keep shaping the rap culture.     In a musical landscape rife with bubblegum melodies and non sequitur raps the GemRats have chosen a different path. Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky GemRats emcees JustMe and Sheisty Khrist lean heavily on emceeing, lyricism and biting social commentary. Both are frequent CunninLynguists collaborators with each member having Deacon the Villain-produced projects including “Tragedy & Dope”, “N.W.L”, and “Couple’s Skate”. JustMe is a founding member of the acclaimed underground hip-hop collective Scribbling Idiots. Sheisty Khrist is a founding member of the legendary Madd Militia often referred to as “Wu-Tang before Wu-Tang”. GemRats recorded their debut tape over the winter of 2013. They released it in the fall of 2022.

    Byron LOVE Luv is actually a Dallas underground legend formerly known as "DTR - Down To Rock" with history dating back to 1982, prior to D.O.C. leaving the Fila Fresh Crew. He was an undefeated battle-rapper who went on to release two albums in 1989 (Dope Straight From The SouthSide) and 1990 (SouthSide Dopeness). The "buzz" was on as he performed with D.J. Earthquake (Floyd) , J-Blade (Johnny Nutson) and Vanilla Ice while recording with Goldfinger (Dale Lane of "Sheek Fool" fame) and Quint Black (Q. Banks of "Shake Dem Haters Off" fame). He was on the way. The streets took a hold of him and he went to prison in 1991. He returned in 1999.
