In this episode of A History of SNL – An Interview Series, we speak to Chevy Chase. Chevy is a living legend in the world of comedy and was a key cast member in the inaugural season of Saturday Night Live. Chase pioneered the recurring Weekend Update segment on the show while also contributing as a writer/performer during his tenure. After SNL, Chase starred in a variety of renowned films, including Vacation, Fletch, Caddyshack, and Three Amigos, becoming an 80’s movie icon. Sam talks to Chevy about his start in comedy, his SNL breakthrough, and life in the 80’s as a movie star. Chevy also talks about his brief return to TV in the sitcom Community (starring Joel McHale and Donald Glover) and why he left the show.
