I want to start off this week with a quick story. Recently, my daughter woke up with a runny nose, congested, sore throat, and a sore stomach. This meant she would not be going to school.

Are you rushing to create all the things digital? Before you create or convert your next digital activty I want you consider these 5 things. Using digital resouces being a digital teacher doesn't mean that you need to create all the things in a digial format. In fact probably many of the things you are creating and spending your time converting are just fine the way they are. So things are going to look a lot different this year in classrooms all across the country. We are looking at in-class learning but clearly teaching and learning will look different this fall but there are a few things we can use from digital learning in the spring and blend with our in class learning. Theh key is to keep it simple. Not everything needs to be an elaborate digital resource. When you think about how to assess students what might be the first thing that comes to mind. Tests.. Projects.. The tools we use to assess these tasks often include a marking scheme or a rubric. But what if the tests and projects were simply the tools we used to assess the skills students demonstrated. And...the rubrics, learning goals, success criteria were not based on the product produced by the skills demonstrated. This would mean that the projects we designed and assigned and the tests that we developed wouldn't need to be the same for each student, nor would we need to make a new rubric for every iteration of what our students made. This is why I want you to look differently at assessment.
