Knowing Jesus, The Bread of Life   The lesson explores John 6:35 & 47-51 where Jesus claims “I Am the Bread of Life”.  After feeding 5,000 men, plus women and children, Jesus walked on water to his disciples who were in a boat, heading towards Capernaum.  The next day, the crowds found Jesus and during their conversation, Jesus explained several important truths which are explored in this lesson, as follows: (1) the significance of bread, (2) the true Bread of Life is Jesus himself, and (3) Jesus, as the Bread of Life, offers true nourishment.  The lesson concludes with the question, “Have you partaken of this Bread of Life?

This lesson, which starts a new section in the Knowing Jesus series, begins our exploration of the I AM titles John records about Jesus.  The lesson is based on John 8:47-59 where the Jews are ready to stone Jesus for using the words “I AM” to describe himself.  Topics covered include: (1) confused ideas people have about who Jesus really is, (2) the history of the name “I AM”, and (3) the bigger meaning of the name “I AM”.  The lesson concludes with the encouragement to believe in and obey Jesus as the only cure for sin, without delay.
