Life In The Gray

What begins with frustrations about the Protestant Reformers leads to a greater conversation about how we should really look at the heroes of our faith. This soft sequel to our hit episode "Calvinism" focuses less on theology and more on the actions of the Reformers themselves.

It's time to talk about sex and the church. We bring on our good friend Kelly Hoeft to examine the in's and out's of purity culture (whether it's healthy or toxic), and discuss how to navigate these topics without resorting to shame. Also listen in for Luther's experience growing up in purity culture, what it was like for Derrick to date his future wife, and Michelle's evening at a "purity banquet," along with popular analogies equating stickers with sex and roses to virginity. 

Inspired by a question asked by one of Derrick's students, we explore some of the awesome and beautiful language used in Scripture to describe God, though we don't agree on what it's all trying to say.

Continuing the discussion from our last episode, Luther and Michelle weigh in their thoughts on what Derrick and special guest Marina LaRusso shared regarding women in ministry.
