  • 323: Disney, Money And Shifting Your Mindset NOW!

    08/05/2019 Duration: 25min

I was recently in Disney World and became extremely aware of how pervasive negativity is… even in the “happiest place on earth”!! You see, our triggers follow us EVERYWHERE, which is why we need to work on them ASAP! They can make joyful experiences stressful… and what the heck- why? What triggers you holds you back… from joy, from fun, from money, from MORE in your life. Start to be aware about the words you are saying, the reactions you have to things and how they are affecting what shows up for you. In this episode, I’m riffing on how you can start to become more open to money, fun, joy, all the things you want in your life… and how they start with YOU!Mentioned in this episode:Get your Seat in the Maximizing Your Boutique's Growth Potential TrainingWhat the free live training session includes: - Identifying Your Uniqueness - Building an Effective Online Presence - Maximizing Sales in Person - Planning for Long-Term Success - Live Q&A session with Emily to address attendees' specific questions and co

  • 322: Stop Doing ALL THE THINGS In Your Boutique

    01/05/2019 Duration: 32min

Are you worried that you have to do ALL THE THINGS? I get it… but I also know it’s not working! Here are my top 3 tips for NOT doing all the things in your boutique business: 1. Pick one or two social media platforms you are AWESOME at, and get MORE awesome at them! The truth is, we all can’t be good at everything. A little over a year ago, I decided I would dominate on video. I started going on FB Live with a topic you needed to hear. After, I downloaded it and uploaded to YouTube. Guess what? My FB page has doubled in following, my group has grown by 2000 members organically and I have hours of video I can give people reference to when they ask about a particular topic. This year, I’m trying my hand at Instagram. I bought 2 courses about it so I can go deeper, and I’m getting consistently consistent. Get good at one or two and then add in a few months. 2. Delegate. Again, you can’t be good or do everything yourself. At a certain point you have to suck it up and hire people to help you! Make a running lis

  • 321: Do Direct Sales Companies Have a Shelf Life

    24/04/2019 Duration: 32min

It was about 3 years ago now that I got ANGRY at Direct Selling companies. I saw that the model was growing, but the training was broken. Retail companies being run by non-retailer CEOs, how would they ever survive? Now I pose the question, is there a shelf life to these companies? Will they disappear in the next 3-5 years? I’ve loved that they are helping the boutique industry grow, giving people confidence to be an entrepreneur when traditionally they might not want to dive in. But the problem remains… too much inventory, not enough retail training and women coming to me with what I’ve coined “Direct Sales PTSD”. In this episode I want to have a candid conversation about what Direct Selling Companies are selling to consultants, why it’s not working and if there is a future for the industry. I’m equally excited and terrified to hit publish on this particular topic, but it’s a long time coming and I would be remiss not to put my opinion and ideas into the mix after the conversations and coaching I’ve don

  • 320 - Why Are You Overspending on Inventory

    17/04/2019 Duration: 21min

The most common thing I hear is, “All the money I make on sales, I spend back on inventory.” Here’s the thing… if you are doing this without concern to your turn rate and sell through, you’re doing it wrong. WHY do you continue to overspend on inventory? Let’s get real, real… In this episode I want to get deep into the issue of overspending so let’s talk.Mentioned in this episode:Get your Seat in the Maximizing Your Boutique's Growth Potential TrainingWhat the free live training session includes: - Identifying Your Uniqueness - Building an Effective Online Presence - Maximizing Sales in Person - Planning for Long-Term Success - Live Q&A session with Emily to address attendees' specific questions and concernsMay 15 Training

  • 318: What To Do When...

    03/04/2019 Duration: 32min

I hear alot of the same questions so I'm going to try to address some of them in podcast episodes along the way with my advice. Today I'm addressing 3 frequently asked questions: 1. What do I do when startup boutiques ask me for help? 2. What do I do when a friend/family member wants to invest in my business or work for me? 3. What do I do when someone is "inspired by me" and opens a store down the street? This is a great episode where I go below the surface answer and give you a TON to think about with each question! • 310: Are Credit Cards Bad for Your Boutique?

    06/02/2019 Duration: 32min

I posted this on Sunday on my Instagram & Facebook page: "Credit cards don’t make you wealthy. In fact, I see them bring boutique owners more shame than anything else. The shame ends up fostering negative feelings about debt, sales and a general LOW VIBE about making money. There’s an epidemic in Boutiqueland of the “Use credit card to purchase inventory, pay off credit card with that month’s sales, buy more inventory on credit card, pay it off with sales...” cycle. This quickly turns into a cycle of SCARCITY always chasing your tail to pay the card off with your sales, and that means STRESSFUL months. My advice for boutique owners who come to me with this cycle is to QUIT THE CARDS! Slowly wean yourself off using the credit cards, using cash to pay for as much inventory as you can. Or, only spend on the card what you have in cash so you immediately (like a minute after spending) pay the balance (if you are worried about card safety). CHALLENGE: What would happen if you hid your credit card and only
