Trying a new format this week as Josh, Eddie, George and Carey are in studio and we bring on Bob to talk about his beat of men's hoops and softball. Even though it's mid-week, there has been plenty of news this week. And that's exactly how we like it. George and Carey were at the Board of Regents meeting this week where several coaches either got extensions or raises and OU added to the Athletic Department master plan by approving construction company involvement in the new football operational facility to be built east of the stadium. We talk about what we learned about facilities coming out of the BoR meeting. Basketball is in a win or go home and softball is heating up as they now have a nice win streak building. Josh gives us updates on how things went and continue to go from last weekend's junior day in Norman. And we recap the NFL Combine from the weekend. We also torture George by asking about his family, which puts Eddie on his worst behavior. It's a jam-packed edition of the Unofficial 40 this week.

We were able to steal George away from Denver where he's been covering the Denver Broncos over the last three years. George talks about why he came back to Oklahoma and decided to join up with us in Norman. Spring football is less than a month away but the NFL Combine is taking place and several Sooners are ready to make their best impression on NFL personnel directors. We talked with George about his experiences at the combine covering the Broncos as well. Hoops is playing well after a big win on the road at Iowa State and softball regained their swagger with a beatdown of No. 1 UCLA out in California. The offseason is over in a month with the start of spring football. But Brent Venables gave us the opportunity last week to visit with his freshman and transfers so we could get to know them. We got a sample of some of the character of this team. What did we think? Who stood out? Any red flags? Bob is uncomfortable because Josh went to a football camp with '25 and '26 players. You also get to hear Bob and Eddie hold their own therapy session concerning OU basketball. They deserve this after covering this team all year. Brent Venables has scheduled a tour de force media day on Thursday where he will make every newcomer (recruits and wtransfers) available to the media along with holding his own press conference to wrap up the offseason while we move toward spring football. It's something we've never seen before. But we catch up on all the latest with OU hoops and Porter Moser who continues the rollercoaster ride of being OU's head basketball coach. The Sooners soundly defeat Kansas State, but we're not sure what that means. Eddie continues to go through difficult times as his car blew up this morning. But we all somehow made it for a get together as Eddie hunkered down at his parents' house and the gang found a way to make it happen. It's a much needed podcast because everyone is trying to stay up to date on what is happening in the portal. All-in-all, OU had 11 members of their signing class participate in all-star activities and 12 total were selected. Oklahoma landed 5-star defensive back Peyton Bowen today and the gang is all here to breakdown how it happened and what to expect from the Class of 2023. The Sooners moved up to No. 7 in the Rivals national team recruiting rankings after Bowen signed. They also got a big transfer portal addition in Texas Tech safety Reggie Pearson.
