Brooklyn Trolley Blogger Mike Lecolant takes on his first Bedford & Sullivan hosting duties with author Andrew Schiff, writer of "The Father of Baseball: A Biography of Henry Chadwick." Mr. Chadwick, who is credited with inventing what we now know as the box score of each game, contributed numerous ideas to the development of what became the modern, organized game of base ball, evolved from many bat and ball games over history but finely tuned during the industrial revolution of the 19th century. We'll touch on Chadwick's early life, moving to Brooklyn at age 12 from Exeter, England, as well as how he became as woven into this sport as the seams on the ball. 01/04/2020 Duration: 45min

The Bedford & Sullivan podcast enters its next 100 episodes with a friendly debate. For most of our lives, Brooklyn Dodgers fans have cursed Walter O'Malley and his decision to bring their beloved Dodgers west. Out west, however, he was revered as a pioneer who helped bring the game of baseball in its major league form to the other coast. Rob Barnes, a Dodgers fan from Illinois going back to 1969 who joined us on the 86th episode, joins the podcast once more to take up the pro-Walter O'Malley side, while Brooklyn born Peter Trunk, who joined us on the 93rd episode, takes the anti-O'Malley postion. It should be a fun back and forth to distract us from that thing we could get while outside these days. Continuing our conversation from May 9th, the thing I am wondering today is when does waiting "Till Next Year" really start to weigh on a fan, this coming on the heels of a rough week and year for the Mets were their bullpen is as "daffy" as can be. How much can a year like 1969, which will be celebrated this weekend in Flushing, pay continuing dividends to the fanbase, even for those who weren't around to remember that Next Year could be right around the corner?
