Synopsis

The podcast is designed for the dentist who likes to learn and improve their practice. The information and content delivered is designed to help the restorative dentist move their practice forward.Each week we start off with an quote that gets the metal gears turning, a book review which will be digested for the listener over a series of episodes pulling out relevant material and applying it to the dental practice.Next an article will be reviewed from the literature and available for download. The show will close with an interesting case that I have come across. Pictures and radiographs, when appropriate will be on the website to review as well.The benefits include having a virtual dental buddy that you can listen to and “hang out with” and talk shop and grow your experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for our profession.

Patience with biopsy proven oral lichen planus we're given a questionnaire in this Prospect of study to see what the triggers were and if avoidance of the triggers was helpful for these patients. A list of the typical and most common triggers is also given for your review. I also discuss the odds and likelihood and reasons for plate removal with jaw surgery. This discussion will help you have a better feel for when patients will have plates removed and if they are likely to have an improvement in signs and symptoms with removal of those plates.

I also discuss an article that did a benchtop study on the neurotoxicity of articaine versus lidocaine and found that there was no difference in toxicity which would suggest that Articaine may be acceptable for inferior alveolar or mandibular nerve blocks

    In this episode, I go over last month's International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial implants and discuss three articles that I thought were relevant.  One article was on the effectiveness of platform switching to preserve bone levels. Another article was on whether or not bone levels and success rate of implants were affected by moderately controlled diabetics and the third article was on two different sized elevation techniques one using a trephine and one using an osteotome and bone grafting material to see if there was a difference in success rates and the amount of bone that was generated.
