When you mess with the best there's no need for the rest. Hey, that rhymed! Welcome to another episode of the podcast your grandmother loves to hate, The Chicken Social. This week, newly engaged Teflon Teej (@HumbleTeej) and Courtney Cox (@courtmcox) join us to talk about the ongoing NCAA tournament. How are their brackets looking, did they expect to see a 16 seed beat a 1 seed, and did Michael Porter Jr. make a huge mistake by playing this season after being injured for most of the season? Additionally, how do we all reconcile the fun of watching the NCAA tournament with the knowledge that these players are being exploited.Jeff Sessions and Donald Trump fire FBI deputy director, Andrew McCabe 2 days before his official retirement. • Ep 143: feminism.

    13/03/2018 Duration: 01h01min

Welcome to yet another episode of the official episode of Deep Sea exploration, The Chicken Social. On this week's episode, Monique Henry (@meauxhenry) is back to talk with us about feminism. Obes had a female friend tell him that the current feminist movement was "nonsense" and that women's empowerment had "gone too far". How did Monique feel about how far women's empowerment has gone and how much farther does she feel it needs to go?After that, Obes and Cha look at what may become a major theme in the 2018 Mid-term elections: Trump voter disappointment. Some Trump voters are openly acknowledging that Trump's behavior is embarrassing. How surprising is that? Additionally, was it necessary for people to see just how bad things could get under a president like Donald Trump?Last but not least, the Houston Rockets are up 1.5 games on the Golden State Warriors and Cha is excited. What are the chances that the Rockets hold this lead and will they be favored against GSW in the playoffs? All that and more, this week

  • Ep 142: Lamar Jackson, Quarterback.

    06/03/2018 Duration: 58min

Welcome to another episode of the podcast Barack Obama described as, "........", The Chicken Social. HumbleTeej, or as we like to call him, Teflon Teej, is back once again. This time, Obes asks him about how the dynamic between T'Challa and Killmonger in Black Panther relates to people within the Diaspora. Namely, Obes wonders how Teej's interactions with African immigrants and first generation Americans influenced his viewing of the film.Next, Obes dusts off an old segment, the Chicken Fried Take, to talk about how Tom Izzo frustrates him to no end. How is that a man could have 2 lottery picks on his team and still lose 4 games to college opponents? Has a 29-4 season ever felt like such a disappointment? PROBABLY NOT!!!Last, but certainly not least, Lamar Jackson goes to the NFL combine. Amidst talk of NFL teams, plural, wanting him to workout at WR, how did our QB1 handle himself? Did he run any routes? Did he amaze the front office execs in his interviews? Did he have chocolate ice cream for breakfast, lun

    21/02/2018 Duration: 52min

Welcome to another episode of the only show that told you Black Panther was going to be a great movie, The Chicken Social. This week, BostonJerry is back to talk to us about Robert Mueller's latest indictments against 13 Russian operatives. What does this mean for the ongoing investigation into Russian collusion with the Trump campaign? Perhaps more importantly, though, Obes, Cha, and Jerry talk about "news illiteracy". Why can't people tell the difference between real and fake news?In this week's Sports Zone, Cha goes all the way in on the game of hockey. Why's it so racist against black people? Why are hockey fans so insecure? Is hockey even good? Obes and Cha answer all of those questions. And then, finally, Obes and Cha talk about the implications of Black Panther's incredible success. What new opportunities will arise for the stars of the cast and crew as a result of this film? More broadly, though, what will the impact be for kids growing up going forward, now that this movie is out?All that and more, th

  • Ep 139: #WhiterOlympics (w/@Fatt_Stacks)

    13/02/2018 Duration: 01h01min

This week, on another episode of the best podcast you've ever (or never) heard, Ashley (@Fatt_Stacks) is back. We asked her what she thought about the Winter Olympics...she has a lot of thoughts about the Winter Olympics, affectionately known as the Whiter Olympics. They lose money, the winter games are as white as the surroundings, and they're rampant with human rights violations. Should the Olympics even continue? We answer the question. Then, as the Rockets take flight, Houston is *right there*. They've added Brandan Wright and look to add Joe Johnson soon as well. Are they the best team in the NBA? What's gonna happen if/when the Rockets meet the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals? And last, but certainly not least...Black Panther. It's finally here fam, and it's lit. It's so so lit. What does this film mean to Obes and Cha and where should you go to see the movie? All that and more, this week on The Chicken Social.Opening Music: "The N*gga You Love to Hate" by Ice CubeMidroll: "No Vaseline" by Ice Cu

  • Ep 138: Did Ya Get the Memo? (w/@KashannKilson)

    06/02/2018 Duration: 01h07min

Welcome to yet another episode of the best podcast in the history of the world. Kashann Kilson joins Obes and Cha to talk about last week's political happenings, and oh what a week it was. From the Nunes memo to Trump's naive love of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Kashann leaves no stone unturned when it comes to educating the youth of America. Additionally, though, Kashann makes a great point about what has come to be a key distinction: the GOP has not become Trump, Trump has become the GOP.After that, Obes and Cha get into some sports (because we do both sports and politics here fam fam fam). Blake Griffin got traded to the Pistons after being told he'd be a Clipper for life and man oh man does Cha break that shit down. Also, Lebron James could go to the Rockets this offseason. The rewards are pretty clear, but Obes takes a deeper look at the risks. What could go wrong with Lebron in Houston? All that and more, this week on The Chicken Social.Intro music: "You're Everything" by Bun BMidroll: "Tops Drop" b

  • Ep 137: Is Michigan State, Baylor North? (w/@fourverts)

    30/01/2018 Duration: 01h04min

This week's episode is a little bit different than most. The school that we've come to cheer for and admire, Michigan State University, has come under fire for its mishandling of sexual assault on campus. Most notably, former world renowned Olympic doctor Larry Nassar was found guilty of sexually assaulting over 150 women. Some of these assaults were on MSU's campus. This happened while the administration turned a blind eye and, oftentimes, sought to cover up what was happening. This isn't all that's happening in East Lansing, however, as ESPN has sought to try to tie the basketball and football programs at Michigan State in to what happened with Larry Nassar. Obes and Cha take a deep dive into the situation to try and determine, based of what is currently known, what's fact and what is fiction.Thankfully, on a much lighter note, good friend of the show Charles McDonald (@FourVerts) stopped by to regale us with stories from his time at the Senior Bowl. He got to meet Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, Dalla

  • Ep 136: (Petty) Government Shutdown (w/@_brandoc)

    23/01/2018 Duration: 01h01min

Welcome to another episode of the Chicken Social, the best podcast of all time*. On this week's episode, digital renaissance man Brandon Caldwell joins us to discuss modern media: what is and is not headline news in this day and age and what should be? Additionally, Obes asks Brandon a more philosophical question: will hip-hop ever get past it's current homophobia? The boys then turn their attention to a very pressing matter. The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors have a budding rivalry, and Cha could not be happier about it. Clint Capela says the Rockets are better than the Warriors? Kevin Durant says Clint has "an easy job"? Delicious.Last, but certainly not least, the government shutdown is (probably) over...until early February. Who are the winners and losers from Monday's festivities? I'll tell you this, our brothers and sisters in the Democratic Party are looking weak...again. Cha even thinks they might be in cahoots, IT'S THAT BAD.All that and more, this week on The Chicken Social.Open music: "Fr

  • Ep 135: Rockets Bout That Action (w/@Fatt_Stacks)

    17/01/2018 Duration: 53min

Welcome back to another episode of The Chicken Social. This week, we're talking about Cha's beloved Houston Rockets...THEY ARE ABOUT THAT ACTION. Chris Paul, the floor general, is taking his duties off the floor. What do we mean by that? Then we look at Martin Luther King Jr. Day and how it annoys Obes beyond belief. How could it be that a day in remembrance and celebration of the greatest American ever could bring Obes such disdain? And, finally, we talk to @Fatt_Stacks about Donald Trump's racist rhetoric towards black nations and black Americans. He called Haiti and the entire African continent shitholes and thought *only* black people were on welfare. @Fatt_Stacks came to read this man for filth, blood, and everything else. All that and more on this week’s episode of The Chicken Social.Intro music: "Icon" by Jaden SmithMidroll: "No Nuclear War" by Peter Tosh  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Ep 134: LOL! Oprah Ain't Running (w/@pholanthropist)

    09/01/2018 Duration: 48min

Welcome back to yet another glorious episode of Nigeria's favorite podcast*, The Chicken Social. This week Obes puts America over his knee as tells you why Oprah running for president is a bad idea. We **currently** have an unqualified celebrity, why continue down this same path? After that, we shift our focus to the New England Patriots. ESPN had a fantastic article last week about the power dynamic between owner Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick, and aging star quarterback Tom Brady, but that's not OUR focus. We wanna talk about why Jimmy Garoppolo doesn't seem too bright in that article. Mans is making questionable decisions. Last, but certainly not least, we talk with this week's guest Tiffany Le (@pholanthropist) about the legal marijuana market as well as Jeff Sessions' renewed attack on the popular drug. Are we seeing a return to the Drug War? All that and more, this week on The Chicken Social.*This may or may not be Nigeria's favorite podcast.Opening music: "The Number 3" by KhruangbinMidroll music:

  • Ep 133: Happy New Year, from Tin Clock

    02/01/2018 Duration: 37min

This week, Obes and Cha are back from the holiday break to their listeners (and each other) a happy new year. After that, the boys talk about the Houston Rockets recent struggles without some key players. Can they get it done if they aren't at full strength? Then, Obes looks at the year that was: a year of muffled terror. Trump and co. sought to roll back the clock on civil rights and regulation, but how much of that was malice and how much was pure ineptitude? Finally, the boys talk about their new podcast network, Tin Clock. What's it all about? Only one way to find out. All that and more, this week on The Chicken Social.  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Ep 132: Diddy and the Black Panthers (w/@courtmcox)

    19/12/2017 Duration: 58min

Welcome back to another episode of The Chicken Social. If you'll recall, a couple weeks ago we had @HumbleTeej on the show. This week, we had his far more accomplished and talented girlfriend Courtney Cox (@courtmcox) on the show to talk about basketball. More specifically, she went deep on Lavar Ball's decision to put his younger two sons in a Lithuanian basketball league and whether or not that was a good idea. She also begrudgingly talked about how good the Rockets are (they are amazing). After that, the boys turned their attention squarely on current Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson. The Panthers boss is being investigated by the NFL after Sports Illustrated reported that he'd made at least 4 settlement payments to ex-employees for inappropriate sexual and racial conduct.Richardson then announced he'd be putting the team up for sale and guess who was first in line to announce their interest in buying it? Diddy. Does he have a chance to be the next owner of the Carolina Panthers? All that and more, t

  • Ep 131: We Believe Your Allegations (w/@mshenrybabyy)

    12/12/2017 Duration: 57min

Everyone’s favorite homegirl Mo (@mshenrybabyy) joined us this week to give a female perspective on the current national reckoning with sexual assault. More specifically, we asked her about the allegations surrounding Matt Lauer and got her opinion on why companies protect sexual abusers like him. We also asked her a very important question: when it comes to sexual assault allegations, where is the line? How many allegations before a resignation and is said resignation enough? Obes and Cha then looked into what is quickly becoming a more and more real possibility: could Lebron James join the Rockets this offseason? And, if he did, what would that look like? Would that team be able to dethrone the Golden State Warriors? Last but not least, today is the special election for the Alabama Senate seat between Doug Jones and Roy Moore. Polls suggest the race is too close to call, but how much of a role is MASSIVE voter suppression playing in this election? Can Doug Jones really do this? Additionally, Roy M

  • Ep 130: Delusions of Grandeur 2: Gone Fisher

    05/12/2017 Duration: 46min

THIS WEEK ON THE CHICKEN SOCIAL: Obes and Cha go it alone. That's right: no guest! Show must go on though, fam. So, with that said...coaches are getting fired despite having winning records. Who do these schools think they are?! On one side, you've got schools like Minnesota firing themselves out of respectability. On the other hand, Texas A&M fired it's way into Jimbo Fisher at an exorbitant cost. Will that work out the way the Aggies want? Then, Obes and Cha take a deeper look into the proposed $89 million pledge by the NFL and the Players Coaltion. It looks great on its face: $89 million over 7 years going towards criminal justice reform, law enforcement/community relations, and education. But, is this deal everything that it seems? No. No, it isn't.Finally, the College Football Playoff rankings are out and Alabama got in over Ohio State. Was that the right decision? Again, no probably not. All that and more, this week on The Chicken Social.  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out info

  • Ep 129: Sexual Assault: A National Scourge (w/@HumbleTeej)

    28/11/2017 Duration: 49min

In what was, honestly, a long overdue interview, @HumbleTeej joins the show to talk about the nation's current reckoning with sexual assault and answer a very important question: at what point does an elected official have to resign over claims of sexual assault? Additionally, Teej, who is an LA-based attorney answers a question Obes has long pondered: how easy is it to to sue a newspaper for slander? In this week's Sports Zone, Obes and Cha take a close look at #NewCoachSZN in college football with a keen eye on the Tennessee coaching job. Why? Because Twitter just made the University of Tennessee back out of a signed agreement to hire Greg Schiano as its head football coach, that's why. What will the folks at Rocky Top do next? Finally, staying in the sexual assault theme, nearly 200 woman have accused Massage Envy massage therapists of sexual assault. Oddly enough, Massage Envy's corporate entity says they aren't the ones who should have to answer for it. How come? All that and more, this week on The Chicken
