God’s Word commands us to be mindful of the Sabbath day. Some of us may mistake this as one specifi c, immovable day of the week, as a day of doing nothing, or as an outdated commandment that has no present application. In such a busy and fast-paced world, some of us wonder how can we dedicate this one day of rest unto the Lord. However, this is the fourth commandment, and we need to obey what God says.

Because God is holy, we must treat Him with honor and respect. This includes His name, and how we use it. To take His name in vain means to use it lightly or misuse it in our daily speech.

God commands us not to worship idols. They are, however, not limited to carved images made of stone or wood. In this day and age, there are many kinds of idols that we are prone to worship.

We may think that the Ten Commandments commandments are irrelevant, but we need to understand that God set them in place because of His great love for us. As we learn more about the these commandments, we need to understand that the very first commandment has to do with who God is and His rightful place in our lives.
