On December 3rd, 1967, Schirmer, a twenty-two-year-old police officer, was driving down a desolate highway in Ashland, Nebraska. He approached a pair of lights that he believed to be a stalled vehicle. When he got closer, he realized it wasn't a vehicle on the road, but a craft hovering in the night sky. After a few moments, the craft shot out of sight and the officer returned to his station, noting the sighting in his logbook. But for Schirmer, there seemed to be a period of missing time between when he first saw the object and when he left the area.
