Geelong wheelchair tennis athlete Martyn Dunn
21/11/2021 Duration: 11minGeelong wheelchair tennis athlete Martyn Dunn is a finalist for the Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards (VDSR Awards). Martyn grew up in Geelong, playing tennis and Aussie Rules on the weekends. In 2015 he acquired incomplete paraplegia in a motorbike accident before a twist of fate saw wheelchair tennis appear in his rehabilitation program. He soon garnered the attention of Tennis Australia’s scouts and joined the national program. Making his Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020, Martyn played in the men’s singles event, however was knocked out of the competition with a loss to Argentina’s Ezequiel Casco. He played alongside Ben Weekes in the doubles campaign, however the pair were knocked out in the opening round by Brazil’s Gustavo Carneiro Silva and Daniel Rodrigues 6-3, 6-3.
