Episodes

  • Episode 11 - Peggy Sue Got Married

    02/04/2016 Duration: 53min

It's Back to the Past, in a movie with the best and worst of the 80s and the 60s combined. Kathleen Turner, we agree, should have been the biggest movie star of her time. We watched Nic Cage's breakout performance, but it's Kathleen we couldn't take our eyes off - we sure wish we could take our eyes off Cage's proto-Trump hairstyle and our ears off his bizarre accent choice.  UnCaged is produced by Cam Rhodes, technical production by Derek Fish, executive producers Cam Rhodes, Marielle Fish and Nicky Rowlands. It is released under a Creative Commons license.

  • Episode 10 - Fast Times At Ridgemont High

    16/03/2016 Duration: 57min

Cam, Marielle and Nicky are back, with a new and much-more-professionally recorded podcast, but their movie choice gives them pause. It's Nic Cage's very first movie and he's barely even in it, without any lines. Is there any point? There is agreement, disagreement, analysis, laughter and disgust about all the rape. This is a movie, as Marielle says, we are doing only as a technicality. We're very sorry. And you should be sorry for us. • Episode 9 - G-Force

    25/02/2016 Duration: 50min

It's our first (partially) animated movie, and one generated by a Script-o-Matic 5000, G-Force. A secret force of guinea pigs and a mole try to save the world from...Bill Nighy? Nic Cage is a very disturbing mole. Moley moley moley the NOOOOOOOODES! Marielle enjoyed not having to think, Cam did not, and Nicky makes lots of guinea pig puns. Plus Marielle comes up with an image which you cannot unsee and has some more Cage News! Find us on Twitter now at @uncagedpod, or on Facebook!  Theme music by Skin Mechanix, accessible at Magnatune. • Episode 8 - 8MM

    09/02/2016 Duration: 51min

After City of Angels, we were looking forward to a happy movie. We're gonna have to keep waiting. Nicky, Marielle and Cam discuss 8MM, where Nic Cage goes down the sick rabbit hole of snuff movies. We talk about puritanical attitudes to sex, the Americanness of this movie, more Resting Cage Face, and more. Theme music by Skin Mechanix, accessible at Magnatune. This podcast has a language warning.

  • Episode 7 - City of Angels

    27/01/2016 Duration: 55min

The team once again watch a movie so you don't have to and boy, should you be grateful you don't have to. City of Angels, a movie where it's a full 90 minutes before anything happens, and it happens...very...slowly. Has Meg Ryan slowly had the life sucked out of her? Does Cage have Resting Angel Face? How disturbing is it when women masturbate to the thought of a creepy stalker angel? We answer these important questions!  Theme music by Skin Mechanix, accessible at Magnatune.

  • Episode 6 - Adaptation

    12/01/2016 Duration: 56min

The only actor who can out-act Nic Cage? Nic Cage? Cam, Marielle, Nicky and their twins explore the mysterious, time-jumping, mind-bending world of Charlie (and Donald) Kaufman in a movie that couldn't be further from their last escapade. Cam takes it literally, Marielle doesn't and Nicky is disturbed by Cage's chest hair and masturbation. Theme music by Skin Mechanix, accessible at Magnatune.

  • Episode 5 - Vampire's Kiss

    30/12/2015 Duration: 53min

You don't say! Marielle, Nicky and Cam discuss the movie and the face that launched a thousand memes. Is Nic Cage high on mescaline, a vampire or does he have syphilis? We investigate, discuss and suffer traumatic flashbacks as we unpack the worst, and Cagiest, movie of 1987 featuring fake vampire teeth and terrible wigs. New theme music by Skin Mechanix, accessible at Magnatune. This podcast contains explicit language.

  • Episode 4 - Kick-Ass

    21/12/2015 Duration: 53min

Our first film without Cage as the main star, and our first major disagreement! Kick-Ass: clever, feminist morality tale or atonal, ultraviolent mess? Cam, Marielle and Nicky have differing views about the 2010 superhero action/comedy/drama. Nicolas Cage is not the star of this movie, but he steals it and arguably it is all about him. And, is it Kick-ASS, or Kick-ARSE? Should a preteen girl be fighting and shouting obscenities? Who is this movie even about? These are the questions we try to answer.  Please subscribe and review us on iTunes if you enjoy this podcast.

  • Episode 3 - Raising Arizona

    10/12/2015 Duration: 47min

The 1987 Coen Brothers classic Raising Arizona features Nic Cage in a more laid back, subdued mode...and a lot of screaming. Cam, Nicky and Marielle revisit this ageless classic, explore the deeper meaning and the Coen Bros tropes that have become famous in the years since.

  • Episode 2 - The Wicker Man

    23/11/2015 Duration: 58min

"This is a movie for bee lovers."  Nic Cage hits Full Crazy in a remake of a beloved British thriller that is, definitively, god awful, no matter which version you watch. Cam, Marielle, Nicky and special guest Anne discuss what the hell is happening, Cage's terrible police work and what kind of drugs this movie needs to be experienced with. • Episode 1 - Con Air

    18/10/2015 Duration: 01h05min

PUTTHE BUNNYBACKIN THE BOX Cam, Marielle and Nicky join up for the first edition of UnCaged (with small contributions from Marielle's baby Jude) to discuss one of the more recognisable and iconic Nicolas Cage movies, the 1997 classic Con Air.  Directed by Simon West and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, this movie is two hours of cocaine-fuelled storyline, terrible accents, impressive wigs and quite a lot of misogyny. Audio quality is not spectacular, but will improve over time and with future episodes. Thanks to everyone who supports our new podcast. You rock.  Cam's other podcast, Amateur Hour, with Erin Riley is at http://amateurhour.libsyn.com/webpage.
