Synopsis

Dave's Disney View - a look at Walt Disney World... I have a lot to say about Disney, having been a regular visitor since WDW opened...I was a one-time CM, and found a great love for the imagination and wonder of it all....heck its why I studied engineering. My goal is to provide short podcasts (they are all between 15-30 minutes) covering topics that I find interesting that I find interesting from around "the world."

Episodes

  • Show #104 - Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

    07/04/2019 Duration: 32min

Today, I explore the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. First, I provide some background on the attraction - how did it come to be? What's the back story? And then, come along and take a walk through the outside and queue of the attraction, followed by a ride on it. Its a little love to an attraction that most people run to for the thrill aspect. But the story is actually pretty interesting.   --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

  • Show #103 - Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

    07/04/2019 Duration: 31min

On today's podcast, I am in the Magic Kingdom, checking out the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Its a fun, interactive experience. Join me as I describe the experience, how it works, and set out to save the kingdom! First things first. I play part of an interview that Rick Brigante did with Imagineer Jonathan Ackley. I provide it for context, but want to give full credit to Rick. You should visit his site and check out his work. He provides a thorough look at all things Disney... Inside the Magic Now I will admit, I didn't love this.  I liked it, but I didn't feel like it was enough - since you stand on a pad and wave a card and get sent to the next destination.  While the animation is great and its entertaining, I just found that it wasn't as interactive as I would like, and it took away from other things I wanted to do.  I have more fun looking for Hidden Mickeys!! But if you want to spend a little of your trip checking it out, its worth admiring the technology and the animation!&nbs

  • Show #87 - Walter Cronkite and Disney

    07/04/2019 Duration: 16min

Walter Cronkite's relationship with Disney and Disney World is not really that deep. Aside from appearing as the host of Epcot, and narrating Space Ship Earth, his other two notable contributions were the introduction to animation at the Studios, and appearing as the host of Holiday Illuminations. But he did appear in a few TV specials where he talked about his love of Disney  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

  • Show #86 - SpaceShip Earth - Cronkite version

    07/04/2019 Duration: 22min

The second host of SpaceShip Earth is the one most people remember as being the voice of the attraction - and really the voice of Epcot. Of course, he's uncle Walter - Walter Cronkite. Respected as a journalist, Cronkite adds a certain authority to the audio. On this show, its Walter's narration of SpaceShip Earth. His voice could be heard from 1986-1995, but to me he will always be *the* voice of the attraction. This was certainly the version I enjoyed the most.  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

I start off with the history of domes, then discuss some the engineering, math, and science that makes it work. And then move to the show itself and that attention to detail. Finally, I present the original audio (pre Walter Cronkite) for the show. From Lost EPCOT   --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message
