Disney fans rejoice! On this episode, we’re traveling back to 1991 to discuss an eight month event at Disneyland that people have varying opinions on. If you grew up in the ‘80s or ‘90s, you probably loved it. If you were an adult at the time, there’s a good chance you thought it was cheap and tacky. I’m speaking of Afternoon Avenue, which was a sort of precursor to Mickey’s Toontown, featuring characters that were particularly popular to kids at the time. Characters like Scrooge McDuck, Gruffi Gummi, Gadget, Baloo and so many more were all featured in this temporary land. Joining me to discuss is Modern Mouse Josh who actually got to experience Afternoon Avenue when he was a kid visiting Disneyland. Disney fans rejoice! Live from Midsummer Scream convention comes this panel about the 2016 interactive subscription game, Disney’s Ghost Post, based on characters and tales from The Haunted Mansion. For $199 you could sign up and receive a package each month for three months. Inside the packages were collectibles and “artifacts” from the Haunted Mansion, and you had to help save the day through various tasks and illusions. It was certainly an ambitious project, but not one that many people know about. Only 999 of them were ever made and they were practically gone before they even went on sale. Disney fans rejoice! On this episode we discuss a Disney movie you’ve probably never heard of, and for good reason. The fact is that Disney kept it’s name off of this movie when it was released in 1980. The movie is “Midnight Madness,” and it was an answer to all of those raunchy comedies of the 1970s. The Walt Disney Company was in a weird place. It was going through a bit of an identity crisis and Ron Miller was the new CEO. This is a movie I grew up with and have fond memories of despite its questionable quality. One highlight of the movie is the fact that it's Michael J. Fox’s motion picture debut.
