Carter Conlon, Pastor at Times Square Church in New York City, believes the landing of the Mayflower and the fragile colony they founded in the face of many dangers – all for the sake of freedom to believe in God, their way - was also the beginning of America, spiritually speaking. But he says we have not honored God in so many ways. He’s calling for targeted prayer asking God to forgive our country for a number of specific things that grieve God, major among them, human slavery, which still has ramifications in what our country faces today. “God gave us freedom and then we took a whole race of people and took away their freedom and made them slaves.”
