Wow, it’s hard to believe that Ohio State’s football season is already over. It seems like just yesterday that the Buckeyes were kicking off against Minnesota on a Thursday night, but here we are, sweeping the confetti from a successful Rose Bowl game away as 2022 has already dawned.  And what a Rose Bowl it was! On the pod this week, Megan and Meredith talk how, with record-setting performances from Jaxon Smith-Njigba and CJ Stroud, the Buckeyes look like they won’t miss a beat heading into next fall — at least on the offensive side of things. The defense, meanwhile, left something to be desired.  Of course, the Buckeyes weren’t the only team in action this bowl season, and there was plenty of intrigue from the College Football Playoff games New Year’s Eve to the always exciting New Year’s Six.  Contact Megan Husslein Twitter: @meganhu

In this Instant Recap episode, Matt and Connor break down what they saw from the freshman, why E.J. Liddell struggled so mightily to score, and how long they think it will take the Buckeyes to get back to 100% after the long, covid-induced layoff. We may be approaching the end of 2021, but we’ve got the same old story dominating sports headlines: COVID-19. Several bowl games have been cancelled, creating an abrupt end to the season for many teams, but others — namely Rutgers — have another shot as they’re backfilling teams that had to drop out of their bowl games due to COVID outbreaks.  Even Ohio State’s men’s basketball game against New Orleans, initially scheduled for Tuesday night, was cancelled just moments after Meredith and Megan finished recording.  But there was some good news from the week, like the NBA on Christmas Day, and Joe Burrow’s performance against the Ravens Sunday. Oh, and the fact that, for the first time ever, the NFL saw two women coaching position groups! Contact Megan Husslein Twitter: @meganhusslein Contact Meredith Hein Twitter: @MeredithHein Learn mor

We are now 11 days into Ohio State’s COVID-19-pause, but there is an end in sight (hopefully). After both the Kentucky and UT-Martin games were cancelled, Chris Holtmann said that he “expects to play on the 28th (against New Orleans). While that’s fine and good, we still have very little to talk about this week because of the shutdown. • Play Like a Girl: COVID’s continued impact on the sports world (12/21/21)

    21/12/2021 Duration: 30min

On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Megan and Meredith talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between. Welcome back! Well, COVID has reared its ugly head once again, and its impact has been felt throughout the sports world with NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA basketball games all being delayed or outright cancelled due to positive tests within organizations. Ohio State hoops was not immune, with the men’s games against Kentucky and UT Martin and the women’s matchup against UCLA being cancelled.  However, the postponements in the NFL in particular mean we’ve got pro football for days on end leading up to Christmas, and this week has already been a special gift with a thriller between Baltimore and Green Bay Sunday afternoon. And of course, we’ve got more and more Bowl games, cool moments with Tiger Woods and (finally?) an end to the Urban Meyer drama in Jacksonville.
