Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season. On this episode, Jamari Wheeler, Justin Ahrens, and Chris Holtmann discuss No. 23 Ohio State’s (18-9, 11-7) terrible, awful, no good, very bad loss to Nebraska (9-21, 3-16) Tuesday night. Despite leading for a portion of this game and rarely trailing by more than six or seven points, the Buckeyes were unable to string stops together to make up the deficit, falling to the Big Ten’s worst team on their home floor. Wheeler and Ahrens had few answers to explain what contributed to the brutal loss. Wheeler said that the team simply did not come into the game with the focus needed for a game of this magnitude with Big Ten Tournament seeding on the line. They also mentioned that losing Kyle Young (plus Zed Key) was a killer, but that it was not why they lost this game. Holtmann then took the loss on the chin during his time, saying that it is his fault

Liddell, Malaki Branham, Chris Holtmann, and Mike Woodson discuss Ohio State’s most heart-stopping victory of the year, an 80-69 overtime win over Woodson’s Hoosiers. After leading by 11, Ohio State trailed by four points with a minute remaining before forcing overtime and ultimately winning in OT. Branham discussed the huge play involving himself and Liddell at the end of regulation that ultimately sent the game to overtime. He also talked about his conditioning during his first season of college basketball. Liddell gave the home crowd credit for “giving them some juice” down the stretch. After breaking down the offense on last week’s episode, this week the guys are taking a stab at projecting the depth chart on the defensive side of the ball. While the offense has a good number of clear starters in 2022, the defense has a ton more question marks, both because of personnel changes and the introduction of Jim Knowles’ defensive system. Obviously the Ohio State defense must play much better if the Buckeyes wish to make it back to the College Football Playoff, and as a result you will likely see a bunch of new faces out there this fall. On this episode, Zed Key, Jamari Wheeler, Ben Johnson, and Chris Holtmann discuss Ohio State’s come-from-behind 70-45 win over the Gophers at the Schottenstein Center Tuesday night. After trailing by two points at halftime, Ohio State overwhelmed Minnesota over the final 20 minutes, denying them their fourth conference win of the season. Key and Wheeler discussed some of the changes that needed to be made to play a cleaner second half. Wheeler also talked about his mindset when teams back off of him and “dare” him to shoot threes, like Minnesota did tonight. Head coach Chris Holtmann addressed Justin Ahrens’ reduced role on the team as the season progresses and his confidence in his team to pull away from opponents late.
