  • Silver Bullets Podcast: Arkansas State Rewind and Toledo Preview

    13/09/2022 Duration: 01h38min

Ohio State had little trouble dispatching Arkansas State in a 45-12 win and even though the Buckeyes still had some hiccups and didn’t cover the spread, things weren’t too far off from what we expected out of Saturday’s game. C.J. Stroud, Marvin Harrison Jr., and TreVeyon Henderson were explosive on the offensive side of the ball. The linebackers and defensive line are still playing well, and the defense is forcing field goals instead of allowing touchdowns. Although the Buckeyes need to clean up the penalties and perhaps start forcing a few turnovers, things are on schedule. We look into the scores and stats of Ohio State’s win. Of course, we checked in to see how our predictions and our picks to click fared, and we are seemingly better on the offensive side than the defensive side so far this season. Ohio State’s defensive ends aren’t putting up big numbers even when they’re playing well, so we’re seeing some patterns emerge in the statistical breakdowns of the games. To get us prepped for the Toledo Rocket

The first of many names on Jordan's list of fireable coaches has been crossed off the list after Nebraska suffered a 45-42 loss to Georgia Southern. A Georgia Southern team led by Clay Helton, who was last year's, Scott Frost. It is a fitting end to a miserable coaching tenure that saw Frost go 16-31 in four-plus years. Ohio State won their Week 2 matchup against Arkansas State by a score of 45-12 in a convincing manner. Jordan Williams is joined by Chris Renne to bring you the Land-Grant Holy Land “Instant Recap Pod.” To get the show started, the guys get into their initial reactions after looking at the stats of the game against Arkansas State. They talk about the main issues that plagued the Buckeyes early and how the team’s energy was the energy of a pay game. After the initial discussion, the guys discuss the explosive offensive performance from the receivers and C.J. Stroud. The Buckeyes offense was consistent and never really needed to press to have success. Then the guys get into some conversations about the defense today. The defense as a whole played well, but penalties and mistakes in the secondary stole the show. The guys discuss why they would rather have Denzel Burke have a bad performance now, than later when the games really matter. After that, Jordan and Chris discuss the Players of the Game as well as their

  • Play Like a Girl: Overreactions following Ohio State’s win over Notre Dame (09/08/22)

    08/09/2022 Duration: 48min

On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein welcomes in friends from around the LGHL, Ohio State, and sporting worlds to talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between. Ohio State certainly started the 2022 football season off with a bang. As Megan and Meredith discussed on this week’s episode, we learned a lot about the Buckeyes following their top-five matchup against Notre Dame Saturday — probably more than we would have if the Buckeyes had played a Group of Five opponent, at least.  But it was an exciting weekend even beyond Ohio State’s game. We saw a preponderance of defense in Iowa vs. South Dakota State and the exact opposite in North Carolina vs. Appalachian State. We also saw a strong showing from most of the SEC (we see you, Georgia and Florida) but not so much from one program (cough, LSU).  Contact Meredith Hein Twitter: @MeredithHein Contact Megan Husslein Twitter: @meganhusslein Learn more about your ad choices. Arkansas State comes to Columbus with a handful of familiar faces, including former Ohio State running back Brian Snead and defensive coordinator Rob Harley — a former Buckeye safety and the great-great nephew of program legend, Chic Harley. • Silver Bullets Podcast: Notre Dame Rewind & Arkansas State Preview

    06/09/2022 Duration: 01h09min

The season is officially underway! Ohio State may have had the offense stuck in neutral for much of the opening game against the Fighting Irish, but — as usual — there’s always “run the dang ball” on which to fall back. The Jaxon Smith-Njigba injury certainly affected Ryan Day’s offense, Jim Knowles’ defense (after the first play) worked about as well as most OSU fans hoped, and the Buckeyes were able to be physical in the run game when it mattered most. We break down the Buckeyes’ 21-10 win over the Notre Dame, including what went well, what didn’t work as well as expected, and who the top performers were. We checked the final box score to check on how we did with our score predictions and the players we picked to click. After our Notre Dame talk, we walked through the results around the Big Ten, where there were few surprises but some results that probably should have gone the other way and at least one that could be costly at season’s end for teams that may struggle to reach bowl eligibility (looking at yo

Stroud, defensive tackle Michael Hall, and wide receiver Xavier Johnson. The Buckeyes discuss the 21-10 victory over No. 5 Notre Dame and how the team's emphasis on toughness during the offseason helped the defense and running the ball win the day. Stroud discusses how it is often difficult to get things locked into place in the first game, but how the offense got things clicking in the second half. Eichenberg discussed how the performance of Hall and the defensive line allowed the linebackers to have one of their best performances in recent memory. Week one has come and gone and we're here to break down what was a wild week of football in the Big Ten and the entire college football landscape. Before we get into that Jordan has some thoughts on week zero as Scott Frost continues to prove he's not qualified to be the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. After another one-score loss while leading Frost has done nothing but finds ways to lose and blame other people. Despite pulling away in the end, his team led North Dakota by seven points late into the fourth quarter in a game most of us thought they would find a way to lose. Is there any way he can save his jo
