On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams. The guys take a look at Ohio State heading into their first road game against Michigan State. To get the show started, the guys discuss Ohio State’s opponent in the Michigan State Spartans, who are in fact much worse than you probably think. The guys discuss how Michigan State has taken a step back on both sides of the ball and why they have struggled against the three Power-5 opponents they have played this season. Then they discuss how impactful Kenneth Walker III was for Michigan State’s program, and why them winning 11 games last year might have been a bad thing. Ohio State defeated a divisional Big Ten opponent by 39 points and somehow it still didn’t feel like a very good performance. The Buckeyes looked a bit off kilter at times in a 49-10 defeat of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, despite the fact that two turnovers were responsible for all of the Rutgers scoring. It could have easily been 49-0 or worse with a little more sharpness, and it doesn’t help that injuries continue to mount. Nevertheless, we are here to talk about another Buckeye victory and to sing the praises of one Miyan “Chop” Williams, who abused the Scarlet Knights whenever he touched the football on Saturday. The passing game wasn’t as sharp as usual but the defense once again turned up, especially Steele Chambers, who had himself a day. We dissect the game, check on our score predictions to see how well we prognosticated the match-up, and comb through the statistics to see how our picks to click fared on each side of the ball. Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. In this episode, you will hear uncut audio from Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann during the program’s annual media day, held inside the practice gym at the Schottenstein Center. Holtmann spoke for about 30 minutes and touched on a bit of everything, starting with the health of Justice Sueing and ending with Tanner Holden’s gradual improvement and progression. In between, Holtmann was also asked questions about LeBron James, NIL, Sean McNeil not being just another Justin Ahrens, and his team’s porous defense the past two seasons — among other topics. He also thanked the roughly 60 media members for joining this season to, “tell the stories of these young men.” Holtmann ensured that Team 124 is a fun group that fans will enjoy following and getting to know as the season progresses.
