  • Stick to Sports: Our Favorite Xichigan Jokes to Get You Ready for The Game

    26/11/2022 Duration: 31min

Land-Grant Holy Land's newest podcast series, Stick to Sports, will be unlike any podcast you've heard on the Ohio State beat. Your hosts, Tia Johnston and Matt Tamanini, will (of course) talk Ohio State football, but the primary focus of the show will be on what's going on around the periphery, such as weird/funny happenings in college football and the sports world at large, as well as other things that keep us interested in between games, whether that's pop culture, social media trends-- you name it. After a hiatus in 2021, Matt and Tia are back to tell a new round of their favorite Xichigan jokes. It doesn't really matter if they make logical sense or not, it only matters if they are petty and funny. They also talk Tia's nervous game-watching habits, how annoying it is for beat writers to tweet what happens in a game when people are watching on a 30-second delay, and how Tia's husband being good at his job is saving dogs, but costing a lot of money! On this week’s episode, Connor and Justin recap a successful Maui Invitational for the Ohio State men’s basketball team that saw them win two games and stay competitive in the third. After losing to No. 17 San Diego State by 11 on the first night, the Buckeyes blew out the Cincinnati Bearcats and followed that up with a wire-to-wire win over the No. 21 Texas Tech Red Raiders. Was 2-1 the best possible outcome? Clearly not, because Chris Holtmann’s team is not bringing home a trophy. But the Buckeyes went up against two top-10 defenses on the island and had arguably their three most impressive showings overall. Throwing the four freshmen out to the wolves against an experienced San Diego

At least one of the three major 2023 edge-rushing recruits Damon Wilson will be on campus in what will likely be his final campus visit before making his college decision during the early signing period. 22/11/2022 Duration: 01h41min

Ohio State’s win at Maryland was a bit stressful but in the end the Buckeyes did enough to get the job done on a day when other favored teams needed late scores to win or didn’t survive at all. We dive into all the good and bad of Ohio State’s 43-30 win in College Park and hopefully the team will be a lot more focused and amped up for an iteration of The Game between a pair of unbeaten, top-five teams. We look back at our picks to click and our score predictions to see how reality stacked up against our imaginations, too. After the Maryland talk, we welcomed in David Woelkers from SBNation site Maize N Brew to get us prepped on the Wolverines prior to their trip to the Horseshoe this Saturday. 20/11/2022 Duration: 57min

During a special bonus episode of the Bucketheads Podcast, the guys begin by giving their thoughts on the Buckeyes’ closer-than-expected victory over Eastern Illinois last week. Is there reason to worry, or was it good that this team faced a little bit of adversity before heading to Maui? Then, they talk about the San Diego State Aztecs and break down what makes them such a tough opponent for this particular Ohio State team. Can a Buckeye squad that’s currently turning the ball over 15 times per game take care of the rock against an SDSU team that’s averaging 12 steals per game? To close the episode, FOX Sports’ John Fanta — a Cleveland native and a Big East man through and through — joins the show to talk about the entire Maui field and what it takes to win three games in three days. Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast ‘Hangout in the Holy Land’ is back! Join LGHL’s co-managing editor Gene Ross alongside his co-host Josh Dooley as they cover everything from football to basketball to recruiting and more! Ohio State didn’t exactly look good doing it, but the Buckeyes defeated Maryland 43-30 on Saturday to remain unbeaten heading into the season finale against Michigan. It was one of those weekends in the college football world, as nobody in the top four looked good despite all four teams remaining unbeaten. In fact, Ohio State’s 13-point win over the Terps was the same margin of victory of the other three teams in the top four of the CFP combined. Still, the Buckeyes had some glaring issues in this one, but were bailed out by big performances by Dallan Hayden, Lathan Ransom and a handful of others.
