Synopsis

A Catholic Podcast with Non-Catholic Guests / Impromptu Meditations on the Word of God

Episodes

  • Catholic vs. Protestant - 2019-01-31 - Kenneth David Schrank

    12/10/2023 Duration: 36min

I met Kenneth in the comments on Aron Ra's episode on my YouTube channel. David, as he prefers to be called, is a humble man of God who is striving to walk with Jesus. I always enjoy talking with Christians, and I was inspired by this man's simple faith. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Atheist - 2019-01-26 - John B.

    12/10/2023 Duration: 28min

John reached out by email and I invited him to be my guest. He and his wife both studied chemistry and both were raised Catholic, but both are now agnostic atheists. John and I spoke about free will and the first cause primarily. A fun chat. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Protestant - 2019-01-26 - Post Mortem

    12/10/2023 Duration: 11min

I never expected a self-proclaimed Christian, much less one who has experience debating, to hang up on me mid conversation; but that's what happened when I asked this guy why he rejects the doctrine of the Real Presence. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Other - 2019-01-23 - Mark Green

    12/10/2023 Duration: 35min

I met Mark Green on Facebook through our mutual friend, Eric Steinhart. Mark is the founder of Atheopaganism which he describes as a naturalistic Pagan path comprised of a set of Principles, practices and celebrations which embody and express religious celebration of life and the passage of the seasons in fun, creative, and meaningful ways. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Catholic - 2019-01-22 - Max Kolbe Part 2

    11/10/2023 Duration: 28min

This is my second interview with Max, but this time it was on his show, Red Pill Religion. He asked me about my journey from Atheism to Catholicism, and about why I do my podcast. He is always friendly and fun to chat with, and we share a deep devotion to our Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • CVS Meta - 2019-01-20 - Doubt and the architecture of belief

    11/10/2023 Duration: 25min

In this Meta episode I flesh out the three steps to Roman Catholicism after allowing Satan to strip me of all my faith and (almost) all of my reason. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Orthodox - 2019-01-18 - James Cutsinger

    11/10/2023 Duration: 43min

I reached out to Mr. Cutsinger because, as I discovered on YouTube, he boldly defends the soundness and validity of St. Anselm's Ontological Argument. He was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in July of 2017, and yet very kindly agreed to speak with me using his one functional vocal cord. I am touched by his patience and kindness. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Other - 2019-01-12 - Lincoln Cannon

    11/10/2023 Duration: 54min

Eric Steinhart suggested that I interview Lincoln Cannon. Lincoln is an LDS Mormon and a Transhumanist, meaning that he is interested in ethical ways of using science, engineering, and technology to advance the human race beyond our present limitations. I enjoyed our friendly chat. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Protestant - 2019-01-12 - Flat Earth Runner

    10/10/2023 Duration: 25min

Flat Earth Runner left a comment on my YouTube channel with a link to one of his comedy roasts. I immediately asked him to be my guest and he agreed. As you might have guessed from his name, Flat Earth Runner believes that the Earth is flat. He is also a self-taught non-denominational Christian. I enjoyed meeting him. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

Stan was raised with Moravian Pentecostalism and now practices the Baha'i faith while incorporating his Inuit spirituality. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • CVS Meta - 2019-01-05 - Solving induction by reduction deduction

    10/10/2023 Duration: 12min

In this episode I briefly introduce the famous Problem of Induction and give two simple examples of how we can use the purely deductive Reduction to Absurdity technique to arrive at 100% logical certainty concerning not only mathematical truths, but even fundamental principles of physical science. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • CVS Meta - 2019-01-03 - Solipsism and playing hard to get

    10/10/2023 Duration: 23min

This episode was inspired by two very different CVS listeners, John Revell and Robert White. I talk about solipsism and the irrational abuse of our freedom and every other good gift from our loving God, who is, in spite of our selfish tantrums, courting us with limitless patience. The bottom line: get over yourself, and let yourself be seduced by the King of Kings. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Atheist - 2019-02-05 - Michael

    10/10/2023 Duration: 27min

Michael reached out to me by email. His mother was at one time a Byzantine Catholic Nun for 13 years before meeting Michael's father, who had studied at Catholic Seminary. He lost his faith as a young adult and now identifies as Atheist. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Catholic - 2019-01-03 - Ken Hensley

    09/10/2023 Duration: 50min

I met Ken Hensley on the Coming Home Network online community. Ken does pastoral care, manages online communities, writes apologetics articles, leads retreats and pilgrimages and much more for the CHNetwork. It was a real pleasure meeting him. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Atheist - 2019-01-02 - Robert White (in absentia)

    09/10/2023 Duration: 39min

This is my first ever "in absentia" ersatz interview. It was inspired by its namesake, Robert White, whom I have never met in real life, as far as I know--although that would be even more hilarious. In any case, this is just a fun survey of his trite anti-Catholic comments, which he has been scattering like high-octane manure all over my YouTube channel for the past 36 hours or so. Enjoy!  • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Catholic - 2018-12-28 - Bob Toews

    09/10/2023 Duration: 25min

Bob Toews is my recent guest Lucas Fehr's step-father. Bob is a non-practicing Catholic who grew up Mennonite but was baptized in the United Church of Canada. He was Confirmed in the Catholic Church in his thirties, but has been disenchanted by recent attempts to curb the Spirit of Vatican II. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Other - 2018-12-28 - Gretta Vosper

    09/10/2023 Duration: 49min

Gretta Vosper is a best-selling author and an atheist minister at West Hill United Church. She envisions an all-inclusive religion where people of different worldviews can build right relationships with themselves, the environment and other humans. I enjoyed our chat. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Other - 2018-12-27 - Eric Steinhart

    08/10/2023 Duration: 39min

Eric Steinhart is a philosopher of religion specializing in new and emerging religions. Eric comes from a long line of evangelical congregationalist preachers. He no longer identifies as Christian, but does not see much value in the label atheist either. It was a fun chat. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • Catholic vs. Other - 2018-12-27 - Lucas Fehr

    08/10/2023 Duration: 25min

I met Lucas about 10 years ago. He got my attention at a dinner party when he announced that he had met and talked with angels. We had some heated exchanges via email at that time, but I think we have both mellowed with age. I haven't seen him in a while, and so I'm glad he agreed to be interviewed. I enjoyed our brief chat. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast

  • CVS Meta - 2018-12-24 - Solipsism vs. Monotheism

    08/10/2023 Duration: 35min

This episode of Meta explains how I went from Hard Solipsism to Monotheism in a heartbeat back in 2009. I was reading Descartes' Discourse on Method when the conversion happened. Basically, I said to myself, either I'm God or God is God, so if God is not God then I am God. But I know that I am not God, and that God is God because if I am wrong then I am also not wrong, since if I am wrong when I say that I am not God then I am God and God cannot be wrong. Therefore I know that I am not wrong when I say that I am not God. Therefore I am not God. But if I am not God then God is God. Therefore God is God. • Support the CVS Podcast: https://www.patreon.com/CVS • Be a guest on a livestream: https://calendly.com/cvs-podcast
