We are each responsible for the condition of our heart. When we keep our heart on the right course we will make wise choices, but when our heart is turned away we often fall into trouble. To recalibrate something means 'to change the way you do or think about something'. If you are measuring your life by the wrong metrics, you will lose your purpose, you will lose your identify. If you are called to be a witness in a trial, all that is expected of you is to tell what you saw, what you experienced, or what happened to you. The same is true for us as Christians. In 1 Thessalonians it warns us not to "quench the Spirit". The word 'quench' means to extinguish, or to put out something that is very hot. This tells us that we need to play an active part in order to gain the wisdom and knowledge that He wants to gives us.
