Below you'll find links to everyone we mention in this week's episode (sorry we couldn't visit them all). Kaz also reveals the two watches he purchased! • Ep. #4 - Family Watches, Wristwatch Instagram Culture, and More

    14/11/2016 Duration: 54min

Kaz and Mike discuss the types of watches they'd seen within their family as they grew up. This then prompts the discussion of sentimentality with family heirloom watches and whether or not brand can potentially play a factor in how a family watch is perceived. Afterwards Kaz talks about his feelings and the sometimes weird but welcoming wristwatch culture on Instagram. That inevitably leads into talking about the very backwards nature of buying certain Rolex pieces new vs second hand and how sometimes it's cheaper to buy new... 0_o Mike ends the episode with a bang by smashing something out of glass and possibly suffering from severe blood-loss.... Show Notes: (In lieu on not knowing which specific models/reference numbers of the watches we mentioned, we will include the links to the brands. If we should learn the models/references numbers down the road, these notes will be amended). • Ep. #3 - Affordable Vintage Watches P.2..?

    06/11/2016 Duration: 01h17min

NOTE: we had some technical difficulties here and experienced some bleed through with our audio - so sometimes you may catch a faint echo noise - we're so sorry. It really shouldn't impact your listening experience but we just wanted to let you know that we were aware of it. === Kaz opens with an apology for insinuating a conspiracy against the TBWS Instagram... Then we continue with our affordable vintage watch talk with brief discussion of Kaz's Omega Seamaster 30 (1962 - 286 Cal) and Mike's Vostok Amphibia. Afterwards the team sinks their teeth into the topic further by recommending first time vintage watch purchases for the discerning (but broke as hell) watch snob: The Seiko World Time and the Raketa Perpetual Calendar. In the process of talking about the pieces we chose, we discuss methods of buying vintage and doing your best to research everything sufficiently. Things we considered when picking our choices: -Conversation/cool factor -Price (obviously) -Rarity -Risk factor Kaz and Mike also rem

  • Ep. #2 - The Hodinkee + Dobel Event, Pre-Wind Up NYC 2016 Talk, and Our Daily Beaters

    06/11/2016 Duration: 01h07min

Kaz and Mike botch the hell outta the intro (Mike lies to Kaz about editing) 0_o Mike talks about the Hodinkee + Dobel Tequila event in Miami and the watches he saw there (and how neither of us know a damn thing about tequila). We also talk about Wind Up NYC 2016 (this episode was recorded before TBWS actually attended the event so apologize for mistakenly thinking Sinn, Dietrich, and Fortis were going to be there -- they weren't). Kaz talks about that one time he ate Kale stems and how he doesn't like them (because he's not a goddam rodent). Then we close the episode talking about our daily beaters - the Seiko Sumo and the Orient Mako I. Plus tangents - man, there are a lot of tangents. PLEASE NOTE: Our recording feature strong language so please don't listen in your infant's nursery or anywhere young ears are present (just use headphones). • Ep. #1 - Affordable Vintage Watches Pt.1..?

    06/11/2016 Duration: 34min

Our inaugural episode!! Mike and Kaz talk about their first vintage watch purchases and begin to scrape the surface of purging the collection (or as Kaz sees it, shipping off a testicle). A bit rough around the edges - we had nerves against us but we were also super excited to finally get this passion project up and running! P.S. Kaz goes on a small tangent about USSR watches and he's still in the process of learning all this history. So if he speaks some garbage that isn't true please correct him PLEASE NOTE: we use VERY strong language during our horology discussion - so it's probably best if you don't listen with your kids in the car. Unless your kids are adults and they curse like no one's business as well. Then go nuts and enjoy TBWS with them. If you have any thoughts or opinions about the stuff we're talking about or if there is something you actually want us to discuss, just let us know!
