US band Crack the Sky have a career that goes back more than 40 years, when their first self-titled album was chosen by Rolling Stone as the Debut Of The Year. Since then they have had their ups and downs, but in recent years the band has reunited many of the original and classic members and continue to make their own quirky and catchy brand of progressive rock music. I spoke to John Palumbo, founder and principal composer of the band, a few weeks ago on the eve of the release of their new album Living In Reverse. The Beatles were kind of my “gateway” band. Before I discovered them, I liked music probably about as much as your average teenager. After I discovered them, I became what I suppose you would call a “music fanatic”. Their music resonated with me on many different levels and I was amazed at the transformational musical journey they had made in less than a decade. Once I had absorbed just about everything they had done I moved on to explore the musical catalogs of Badfinger, The Who, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and countless other classic rock bands. Eventually my explorations led me to Yes, The Moody Blues, Genesis, ELP, and the entire world of Progressive Rock. But I really owe it all to the Beatles...for me they were the spark. If you listen to interviews with many of the people who went on to found some of the greatest Golden Age Prog bands, you will also find that many of them were directly influenced in some way by the Beatles. So I always knew that I would do some kind of Beatles show at some point. The

Time Of The Season by The Zombies is one of the first songs I can remember hearing as a child, and that strange beat and smooth, almost ethereal (over an AM radio!) vocal made a lasting impression. So it was with great pleasure that I was actually able to interview the owner of that voice, Mr. Colin Blunstone, a few weeks back! As an original British Invasion artist he had many recollections of those heady days, and also talked about his solo career, and time spent with The Alan Parsons Project and the offshoot band Keats. Jerry Marotta is one of the most prolific drummers in the history of modern music. He  has played on literally hundreds of records and has worked with acts such as Orleans, Hall & Oates, The Indigo Girls, Stackridge, Marshall Crenshaw, The Dream Academy, Tears For Fears, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, and many, many more.
