Motor City Bengals Presents "Tiger Talk" with hosts Matt Pelc and Dave Holcomb.It was certainly the worst week of the year for the Detroit Tigers as they lost both a series to the Chicago White Sox and to the Kansas City Royals.This week's episode begins with the heartbreaking defeat on Sunday Night Baseball. Despite loading the bases in both the ninth and 10th innings, the Tigers were unable to score and lost to the Royals, 2-1. Both hosts debate the moves of Tigers manager Brad Ausmus in the last two innings of the game.In the second segment, Holcomb and Pelc list the long and still growing injury list for the Detroit Tigers. Catcher Alex Avila and starting pitcher David Price are the newest additions. Avila could have knee surgery and won’t return before the second half, but Price is hopeful he will make his next start. Co-host Matt Pelc was unable to do the show this week but wishes all his fellow Tigers fans well.The Detroit Tigers had another up-and-down week, but they were able to split the four-game series with the Royals in Kansas City to avoid falling out of first place. In the first three games of the series, the offense was a major problem, scoring just four runs.Although it is still too early to panic, some small changes are healthy and sometimes even neccessary, so Holcomb suggests, just as guest Steve Mitzel did last week, that a change in the batting lineup is in order.It is also important that manager Brad Ausmus start getting some of his stars off days. Six of his nine regulars have played in at least 25 of the Tigers' 26 games this season. That could help explain why the Detroit offense is either feast or famine. On this episode, we recap the third week of the season and welcome on another guest, Motor City Bengals Staff Writer Steve Mitzel.The Tigers definitely cooled off in the third week, losing their first series of the year to the New York Yankees, and four games in a row. Detroit, however, rebounded nicely over the weekend, winning another series with the Cleveland Indians and the first game versus the Twins on Monday.Starting pitcher Alfredo Simon has to be considered one of the big reasons why Detroit has jumped out to this nice 14-6 start. He leads the American League in wins with a 1.65 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 27 1/3 inning pitched over his first four starts. But despite the nice start, Pelc and Holcomb weigh the chances Simon continues to keep this up all season long.Holcomb points out that throughout his career, Simon has always been a better first half pitcher, and Pelc gives his reasons for why that could also be good in the sec

Motor City Bengals presents "Tiger Talk" with hosts Matt Pelc and Dave Holcomb. On this week's show, we celebrate one of the greatest days of the year: Opening Day. The Detroit Tigers began the season with a bang, earning a complete, 4-0, team victory over the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park. Ace starting pitcher David Price was the star, pitching 8 2/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing only five hits. He also struck out five and walked none. Unfortunately, Price wasn't able to record that 27th and final out, but closer Joe Nathan was able to, striking out the lone batter he faced.Left fielder Yoenis Cespedes starred in the field and at the plate in his Tigers regular season debut. Cespedes was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and robbed a home run off the bat of Kurt Suzuki in the third inning, but Pelc argues it was a base running play from Cespedes that turned out to be most important on Opening Day.In the second segment, the show welcomes its first ever guest in Motor City Bengals staff writer Josh Scramlin.

Stars Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez played in their first Spring Training game on Sunday, but they are still slowing recovering from offseason surgery, David Price and GM Dave Dombroski are not there yet,   in terms of contract negiotiations on an extension, and the bullpen is far from ready.
