So I recently just got back from my solo volunteer project in Portugal to help build houses for the homeless, and I hunkered down in my second experience staying in a Hostel.  Hostels are a hot topic in the travel world, and thanks to many horror movies that have been released featuring them, they have not gotten a good rap in some people's minds.  I am here to change people's perceptions of that.  I had an incredible time at the hostel I stayed at, and met so many interesting people while residing there.  I thought, what better way to highlight the good things about hostels, than to investigate Pittsburgh's very own! Stage and Screen actor Patrick Wilson joins Marta On The Move with composer and musical director Thomas Douglas. Patrick has starred in many shows, and is known for his film work in Angels In America, The Watchmen, Little Children, Hard Candy, along with his hit show Fargo. He is back in Pittsburgh at his old Alma Mater, Carnegie Mellon to direct The Full Monty at the Phillip Chosky Theater for the CMU School of Drama. Patrick himself starred in The Full Monty on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony for his role in the show. Thomas Douglas is the musical director for The Full Monty.  He also takes the titles of Director of Opera Studies, Director of Choral activities, a leading composer, Artistic Director of the Bach Choir, and director of over 200 performances here and abroad. Haley Woods from Girls Love Travel. Gotta love this girl.  Such an inspiration that I had to feature her on the show, she travels 100% for work and travel the world.  She also created the super supportive travel community for women to grow and support one another.  I stumbled upon this group, and now I am addicted, and I am not the only one! With over 12,000 followers in one month, Girls Love Travel has made record breaking numbers.   Haley Woods is the founder of the group, and she just happened to be in Pittsburgh for work.  We scheduled a GLTMeetup, and I had her over Chez Mazzoni for a recording about her origins, how GLT came to flourish, and where it is headed. What am I going to say about this group that doesn't sum it up in the title. Besides the fact that they are die hard gamers, they are also the nicest and most fun people to hang out with.  I invited the administrators and creators of the group, Christopher Morgan, Brian Wissner "Wizz", Colt Dalmaso, and just for fun my great friend John Schalcosky to my house for this podcast, the guys showed up with a television and about 40 games from random systems.  I was in my heaven.  We had the best time hanging out, playing games, talking memories, and drinking beer.  I felt like a kid again, if just for an evening. The podcast only lasted about an hour, but we got to hang well into the evening after the mics turned off.  I cannot wait to have them on again soon.  Aside from our nerdy conversations about our favorite moments in retro gaming, we managed to include some really great material, and answer some questions that anyone who has any interest in playing, selling, or collecting games would want to know.  My eyes

Welcome to the first ever Pajama Party Podcast!  What is it?  It is pretty much the same as Marta On The Move, only thing is, people are wearing Pj's (including the guests) and it is usually a live audience!  I started these in my home just for the fun of getting folks together to relax and take in an interactive show.  There won't be a ton of them,(probably once or twice a year) so eat it up while you can!   House of the Dead in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville is a cult fans ultimate destination for all things zombie.  Owned by friends Chuck Cramer and Stu Neft (aka Disco Stu), this is the place to stop into if you are a zombie fan.  I love zombie movies (Return of the Living Dead being one of my favorites), so chatting with a local zombie book author and one of the owners of HOTD seemed the perfect lead up to Zombie Fest in Pittsburgh and Halloween! Pittsburgh is one of, if not THE zombie capital of the world.  Starting with George Romero's Night of the Living Dead , it sparked other movies that lead to cult classics like Dawn of the Dead, which in my opinion lead to a more mainstream audience, ever hear of a little show called The Walking Dead?  Pittsburgh is the grounds that bred two of the men responsible for leading us up to where we are today.  Friend's Tom Savini and George Romero together shaped future movies to come. So many thoughts, so much to do, not enough time, and so much stress.  We work hard and play hard every day, our brains never taking a break.  Stress one of the largest factors of deteriorating health.  The silent killer they call it, and I don't know about you, but that scares me to no end.  We all need a break in our chaotic world to be alone with our thoughts.  Many don't realize the outside sounds that we hear even when we think we are having a "quiet" moment.  It isn't until you truly take away all noise that you start listening to what is important.  I took this journey recently, and I wanted to share it.
