[5:38] David reports that surgery on Dak Prescott's right thumb indicates he may be back by mid-October instead of mid-November. But with the offensive line in disarray, penalties abounding and CeeDee Lamb MIA, our panelists predict a poor record for the Cowboys while Dak's out. [24:00] Josh Jung made a splash his first week in the bigs, but suddenly there are other questions on the left side of the Rangers' infield, with Evan noting Corey Seager has struggled since Chris Woodward's dismissal. [37:50] And it's a merry-go-round for QBs at Texas and Texas A&M. Steve Sarkisian may have found something at Texas, while Jimbo Fisher could be losing something at A&M.

[23:25] The guys compare the pitching histories of the Rangers and Astros and how organizations build reputations as a result. If the Rangers have 10 good pitchers in their system, Kevin says, they can hope two, maybe three actually go on to solid big-league careers. And that's probably good enough.

[20:55] David gives five Cowboys that Jerry Jones should consider for the Ring of Honor, and the panel ranks their favorites. [35:22] In the ever-popular potpourri, Kevin asks David if the Mavs are giving up on small ball, the system that got them to the Western Conference Finals.

Evan says a pro athlete's decision invariably comes down to money and a shot at winning, but David notes that family may change the dynamic. Jalen may also have a bone to pick with the Mavs. [17:30]  Evan points out that Corey Seager may not help himself by taking a private approach to his hitting slump. Metrics and scouting allow teams to make faster adjustments, Kevin says, and hitters need all the help they can get. [30:22] And the insiders discuss the impact of Arch Manning's commitment to Texas, a program historically low on QB talent.

Kevin says that as soon as Sean Payton raises his hand and says he'd like to be the Cowboys' coach, Jerry Jones will put Mike McCarthy's stuff on the front porch of the Star. Evan wonders if Jerry is willing to pay the price. And in the potpourri segment, the insiders talk about a new Stars coach, the Mavs' big trade, golf, the World Cup coming to Dallas in '26 and the Greece T-shirt Evan got from the last time the World Cup played in Dallas.

SportsDay Insiders Kevin Sherrington and Evan Grant [6:08] discuss the prospects for the Rangers as they near a reckoning about playoff contention. Evan says the Rangers shouldn't deal for a rental player because they're still not good enough. Kevin says rentals are out, but the Rangers owe it to their fans to compete for the tournament if possible. Both Insiders say it might be enough if Ezequiel Duran, Josh Smith, Leody Taveras and other kids make viable contributions this year. [23:38] A definite local contender this week is Big D's Big 3 -- Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Will Zalatoris -- at the U.S. Open. Also, everybody's got a right to make as much money as possible, but, with LIV Golf, you have to consider the source.   

SportsDay Insiders Kevin Sherrington and Evan Grant discuss the Rangers' recent inability to get over the .500 hump and into second place in the AL West [1:15]. Kevin says Matt Bush shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the ninth inning. Evan says the bigger issue is the fact that the Rangers' big-ticket signees, Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, haven't carried the team. Until they pick it up, the Rangers will founder. Dalton Schultz wants a long-term deal from the Cowboys [20:57], leading Kevin to say he's not worth it. Evan says maybe. The fellas also discuss the Mavs' off-season [16:24], the new LIV Golf tour [25:04] and the evergreen nature of Yahtzee, a game for all generations.

[2:00] Kevin asks Evan if Corey Seager's 11 home runs -- including nine at Globe Life Field -- are a good sign considering he's under contract for 10 years. [13:30] In order to find a center who can rebound and provide a little interior defense, David predicts the Mavs will sign Brunson, give Tim Hardaway Jr. a little time to reassert himself then decide which of the guards to deal during the season. [28:00] And Kevin and David discuss DeMarcus Lawrence's new dreadless look and just how much better the Cowboys' defense can get in Dan Quinn's second season as defensive coordinator.

[30:09] The Cowboys probably aren't done in free agency, says David, who thinks Anthony Barr could be a target. [33:38] The Colonial is this week, hosting one of golf's budding Dallas rivalries in Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Will Zalatoris. [41:27] And who looked worse in last week's catfight: Nick Saban or Jimbo Fisher?

Evan moderates a discussion between Kevin and David about what the Mavs need to do to beat the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. [26:25] Kevin says it's time for Rick Bowness and his defense-first-and-last approach to go if the Stars want take advantage of the play of Jake Oettinger, the best home-grown goalie the organization has produced since it moved to Dallas.  [42:45] And Evan tells us what he learned about the Rangers while he was laid up.

There was no template Monday.  [14:23] David and Kevin reveal their draft grades for the Cowboys, and all three panelists give their favorite picks.  [32:55] Evan analyzes the turnaround of the Rangers' rotation and outlines what Willie Calhoun has to do if he's ever going to be the hitter both he and the Rangers hoped he'd be.

[33:30]  Evan notes the recent surge in Ranger fortunes but tells Kevin that pitching help probably isn't on the way. They'll have to dance with what brung 'em.
