Synopsis

Dragged into Turbolasers is Between the Bolter and Me's official miniature wargaming podcast. We talk critically about all aspects of the miniature hobby, with a primary focus on Warhammer 40,000 and other Games Workshop games. Rather than conversing about rules and competitive play, our priority is to discuss the miniature side of the hobby: examining new model releases, exploring hobby techniques, and talking about our current projects on the blog Between the Bolter and Me.

  • Episode 29: Mortarion heralds a wave of new Death Guard releases

    14/09/2017 Duration: 47min

We spend this episode talking about the new and upcoming Death Guard models. We devote a significant amount of time discussing their Primarch, Mortarion, and how we feel that he is the strongest model in the range, not not suffering from many of the severe anatomical issues of the rest of his legion. The majority of the rest of the episode is spent analysing the new terminator models, particularly the Deathshroud terminators. We lement at their lack of of abdomens and awkward leg attachment, but think that they will still be excellent for conversion opportunities.

  • Episode 25: Painting is more than just acrylics!

    19/07/2017 Duration: 44min

In this episode we talk about our journey through painting, how over the years we have developed our own style, but also how we have started to experiment with different types of paints and products to push our skills further. We spend a lot of time talking about our efforts into using enamel and oil based paints, as well as some resources that you can use if you want to learn more about them or how to best use them.

  • Episode 21: Warhammer 40k 8th edition is upon us!

    28/04/2017 Duration: 44min

The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is soon to be released, and Games Workshop has been revealing a lot of information about its changes from previous editions via their Community site. We spend the episode talking about some of these changes from the perspective of people who did not get too invested in the previous edition, partially because of how bloated it became and how little it focused on the narrative elements that we enjoy most.

  • Episode 20: Our Kharadron Overlords and how to Mind the Gap

    18/04/2017 Duration: 35min

In this episode we discuss the new Kharadron Overlord model line for Age of Sigmar, paying special attention to the awkward proportions present on the models (particularly the wide thigh gap present on all of them). We talk about our pleasant surprise at the game using the Necromuda ruleset, expanded to include other Warhammer 40k armies and weapons, rather than the gangs from the hive world of Necromunda. We discuss how this will affect 40k as a whole and how it might influence the Inqisimunda and Inq28 community.

  • Episode 18: The Dark Age of Sigmar

    08/03/2017 Duration: 42min

We begin this episode by talking about the new Age of Sigmar releases, focusing on some of David Waeselynck’s work, the Vanguard-Palladors and the new Slambo. We also discuss the recently released Warhammer Quest game, Shadows over Hammerhal. We then transition into describing how Jake from Ex Profundis started a movement to bring the narrative style of Inq28 to Age of Sigmar, creating AoS28. The Age of Sigmar setting is a veritable blank slate upon which you can explore virtually any creative impulse, without feeling beholden to droves of background knowledge. This has encouraged us to start building a warband of warriors afflicted by an odd crystallizing disease, inspired by the J.G. Ballard novel The Crystal World.

  • Episode 17: Roboute Guilliman and questions concerning Space Marine Anatomy

    14/02/2017 Duration: 01h06min

We begin this episode by talking about some of the new Tzeentch releases before shifting into discussing the third Triumvirate boxed set, including Roboute Guilliman, Cypher, and Grand Master Voldus. We finish out the episode talking about our current work to build a better proportioned true-scale Space Marine.

  • Episode 15: 2017 begins!

    06/01/2017 Duration: 47min
