    St. Patrick was born in England in 385AD, was captured by pirates as a child and brought to Ireland, at which time he was called to Christianity. He escaped his captors and returned to Ireland as a missionary. In his teachings, he combined Irish pagan beliefs with Christian sacraments, devising the Celtic Cross.
