Paul wants these false teachers to have sound faith. That is why he told Titus to reprove or expose them.

These deceivers were calling all Cretans liars, evil beasts and gluttons. Titus us told to reprove them or expose them severely

The people that Paul is talking about in verse 10 are identified as being of the circumcision. They are rebellious, empty talkers, and deceivers. They are destroying families. Titus is to stand up and confront them.

Elders must stand up to rebellious people people who speak empty words and deceive others.

Elders must cleave to or hang on to the faith word of God and the teachings of the church. They need to be able to speak the Word of God to others and correct those who oppose it.

Elders must live a life that is set apart in holiness. They need to also be able to control the dominion that they have and be self controlled.

Elders need to have a mind that has been saved. The way they think is very important. They must also have righteous judgments or just toward others.

Elders should be friendly toward strangers, they also need to be have a superior moral character in comparison to the people around them.

In this verse we see more qualifications for elders. They need to be good and faithful stewards over what God owns, they cannot be self centered or quick to lose their temper. They cannot be alcoholics or or fighters. They cannot be looking for their own gain.

Qualification for elders are they need to be people who do not have a place to hang an accusation, they need one spouse, they need beleiving children, they are bot wasteful or rebellious.

Paul gives us a reason for Titus to remain on Crete. That was to set things in order and to appoint elders in every city.

Titus was saved under Paul's ministry. Paul also taught Titus the faith, a set of principles to believe in. Paul speaks a blessing over Titus that includes grace and peace.

God's timing is always perfect. Our proclamation of the Word of God needs to be brought in God's timing.

Paul tells us that the truth comes in godliness and also in hope. This hope was prophesied many years ago and it will happen to all who believe.

Paul describes himself as a servant of God and an apostle. He gives us a wonderful understanding of the motives of his heart.

Who is Titus? He is an apostle sent by Paul to establish the church on Crete. He is one of Paul's sons in the faith.

We continue our background study of Titus by learning about the island of Crete and its people. We also begin to look at who Titus was.

In this podcast we look at the dates that Titus was written in and where it is believed that Paul wrote it.

In the conclusion of Paul's last letter we see that he is still concerned with people. Paul greets people, he tells Timothy where to locate people, he talks about four believers who were with him in prison.

The Lord stood with me and strengthen me. Paul knew he was finishing his race. He had complete what was spoken over him many years earlier. Paul was looking to the rescue of death and his resting place in Heaven.
