Make Mine Multiversity

In this episode, the Make Mine Multiversity book club is back and bringing you one strange, strange mini-series. We love strange here at MMM, and maybe one day the good doctor will come as well, but for now bask in the glory that is the pettiest Marvel villain ever: M.O.D.O.K. and his crew of Z-listers. One of which is now on Krakoa. Who is it? You'll have to listen to find out.Next month's book club: the mini-series "Bullet Points" from 2007. It's like an Elseworlds, but for Marvel. What If there was a name for that?

In this episode, we decided to talk about X-Men. Again. But we also look at current Marvel books in general and pick our respective favorites as part of a brand new feature. You might be surprised as to how much two men could love "X-Men." Or if this isn't your first episode, you probably won't be surprised at all. But stay tuned because we don't just talk about "X-Men!" We also look to space, New York City's streets, and some strange corners of the Marvel universe.

In this month's Make Mine Multiversity Book Club, we're taking a time machine back to the mid-2000s to see what Marvel thought teens sounded like, what the youts wanted to see, and why the digital coloring in those years makes Elias sad. Oh, and there's some set-up for an event called "Empyre" and a direct link to the last book club entry? Who knows. Oh, wait. We do. It's time to dig into Alan Heinberg and Jim Cheung's "Young Avengers."

The Mighty Multiversity Marvel podcast is back with episode 49! Every comics fan has an origin story that leads to a twisty path. This is ours. We talk a bit about our faves, and our least faves, our family and friends who got us into Marvel stuff, and the characters we feel like deserve more respect.

Make Mine Multiversity is a twice-monthly podcast that premieres on the first and third Friday of every month! It's like payday, but you can't buy food with our voices.The first Make Mine Multiversity book club kicks off with "Avengers" #89-97, collectively known as 1972's "Kree-Skrull War." Why this book? Well, a little event on the horizon called "Empyre." Oh, and here's a timeline of that whole Captain Marvel debacle.</a> But before we get down to that, Jake and Elias take stock of the current X-world with Baseline X, a soon to be recurring segment once X-books become more regular.

While comics are still slowly returning to the shelves, we're going to keep taking some time until we get back to reviews, and in the grand Marvel tradition of returning after a break with news, we have some! But you'll have to listen to find out exactly what it is. It's another Special^TM episode of Make Mine Multiveristy you won't want to miss. There's hot takes. There's some Who's Who's of our hosts ala the Direct Competition. There's even something about the Kree-Skrull war? As comics slowly start coming back to the shelves, we're waiting a few weeks before we get back to reviews. And so is Marvel. They published new single issues last week, and new trades this week, and will be alternating the month of June as things get back to normal. Therefore on another special episode of Make Mine Multiversity Kevin, Jake, and Elias take a dive into all of Marvel's event comics of the 2000s and pick their top three. Come for the rankings, stay for the jokes. 

No new comics and less new news means another special episode of Make Mine Multiversity to kick off the month of May. After a brief intro by Kevin, the DC3Cast boys offer their definitive rankings of the Dawn of X books at this moment. While there will be no Free Comic Book Day this weekend, enjoy more lists and reliving this already exciting era for Marvel's merry mutants.

With no new comics still this month due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, the trio of Kevin, Jake, and Elias wade through all seven of Marvel's relaunches from the 2010s. Journey with them as they try to pick the objectively best book of the eras plus their personal favorites and underrated choices. The episode goes chronologically from Marvel NOW! (2012), All-New Marvel NOW! (2014), All-New, All-Different Marvel NOW! (2015), Marvel NOW! 2.0 (2016), Marvel Legacy (2017), and the current Fresh Start era (2018-).

Host Kevin Gregory takes you briefly through the current plane of where publishers are at amidst the coronavirus pandemic before moving onto announcements and discussion of books in Marvel's June 2020 solicitations like the "Shang-Chi" relaunched. In the back half of the episode Brian, Vince, and Zach of the DC3Cast return to give their thoughts on some of the March 2020 Dawn of X books. These include, "X-Men" #8-9, "Giant-Size X-Men: Nightcrawler" #1, "Cable" #1, and "Hellions" #1. 

Kevin and guests Elias and Jake tackle the State of X in part one discussing the beginning of wave 2 of the Dawn of X books. They review "Wolverine" #1, "X-Men" #7, "Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey &amp; Emma Frost" #1, and "Cable" #1 in part one of the episode before returning to tackle "Spider-Woman" #1, "Strange Academy" #1, and "Outlawed" #1. 

Kevin breaks down the plethora of Marvel news on the other side of C2E2 as we highlight the newly announced "X of Swords," and other "Empyre" tie-ins and announcements like "The Union," and the Alex Paknadel written "Lords of Empyre" one-shots. In the back half of the episode Brian, Vince, and Zach of the DC3Cast return to give their thoughts on four of the February 2020 Dawn of books: the first issues of "Wolverine," "X-Men/Fantastic Four," "Giant Size X-Men: Jean Grey &amp; Emma Frost," and "X-Men" #7. 

Kevin and guest Elias Rosner in part one tackle the debuts of new miniseries "Nebula," and "Ant-Man," as well as the launch of Al Ewing and Juann Cabal's "Guardians of the Galaxy." In part two the pair review "X-Men" #5 and #6 alongside "X-Men/Fantastic Four #1 and discuss the state of Dawn of X now that every book has a full arc behind them.

Kevin breaks down the plethora of Marvel news from the last few weeks and gets you ready for the month of April when "Children of the Atom," "Empyre," and a new "Black Widow" ongoing launches right before her solo film debut. In the back half of the episode Brian, Vince, and Zach of the DC3Cast return to give their thoughts on January 2020 Dawn of X books.

Kevin and guests Elias Rosner and Jake Hill take a look at some of Marvel's biggest news of the last week discussing the reveal of "X-Factor" from the creative team of Leah Williams and David Baldeón and all the books spinning out of "Outlawed" in March. The trio review "Iron Man 2020" #1, "Hawkeye: Freefall" #1, and "Thor" #1 in part 2 of the episode!

Kevin and guest, Multiversity Comics Manager-at-Large Jake Hill, break down Marvel's big prequel for 2020 and last big hoorah of the last decade: "Incoming!" #1. The pair discuss the issue in depth, it's implications, and what might be coming with "Empyre" in April. In part two of the episode Brian, Vince, and Zach of the DC3Cast return to give their thoughts on the third and fourth issues of all the Dawn of X books.

Join us going forward the first and third Friday of every month for our new twice-monthly news-filled, mutant-packed program!Kevin welcomes guest Elias Rosner back to the show to hit up Marvel's last wave of big news for the decade including two new Dawn of X books and thoughts about whatever "Empyre" might end up being. The pair then cap off 2019 with some finales as they review "Gwenpool Strikes Back" #5, "Guardians of the Galaxy" #12, and "King Thor" #4.

In our first December 2019 episode, host Kevin Gregory gives his first reaction to the newly released Black Widow trailer (spoiler alert: it's kind of meh?) before moving on to other Marvel news from the month of December like the new "Nebula" book. The second part of the show is the second installment of "Imagine What If Stan Lee Created the DC3Cast" as Brian, Vince, and Zach dissect the second month of the Dawn of X books. 

Kevin welcomes guests Elias Rosner and Jake Hill this episode who are filling in for Jess. The trio tackle a couple of Marvel's milestone books of October/November "Immortal Hulk" #25 and "Silver Surfer: Black" #5 before moving in the second half of the show to their individual rankings all the first issues of the Dawn of X era.

In this kick off to the new era of the show Kevin covers the Marvel news from MCM Comic Con London, including the reveal of a new "Giant-Sized X-Men" title, before taking a brief look at the January 2020 solicitations. Then, in the show's newest segment, Brian, Zach, and Vince the hosts of Multiversity Comics's sister show The DC3Cast debut their monthly Dawn of X review segment.
