The Edinburgh Fringe is the world's largest arts festival, which spans 25 days and features over 50,000 performances of approximately 3,500/4000 shows and events in 300+ venues. It was established in 1947 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival. The Fringe takes place annually in the month of August. Hank Marvin, is an English multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and songwriter. He is best known as the lead guitarist for the Shadows, a group which primarily performed instrumentals and was the backing band for Cliff Richard. The Shadows, along with Richard, secured 69 UK chart singles from the 1950s to the 2000s, Many leading British and Canadian rock guitarists cite Marvin as an influence on them. The Beautiful Secret are a two piece band comprised of Rachael Hawnt and Ash Cutler. Their brand new, debut album - just released - is a melodic pop/rock affair with theatrical undertones and powerful vocals. Their first single, What’s Inside, deals with the subject of Autism, and is inspired from Rachael’s own niece, Katie-Rae, who lives day-to-day with the condition. In 1967, the owner of Liverpool's famous Cavern Club (and friend of The Beatles), Alf Geoghegan, wrote and recorded a song for his daughter, Debbie, for Christmas. For close to half a century that song has remained unheard outside of the immediate family. Several years ago, Debbie and her husband Nigel met singer/songwriter, Michael Armstrong, and they have since become big fans of his music, even organising Michael’s debut album launch at The Cavern Club. Last year, Debbie presented Michael with a copy of her father's Christmas song, which Michael, along with Warren Bennett, subsequently updated and recorded. In our final show for 2016, Michael joins us in the studio to talk about breathing new life into a dad’s very personal tribute to his little girl. Changing Stations is a crowd funded, 11-track classical-contemporary album by Daniel Liam Glyn, based on the 11 main lines of the London Underground. Daniel identifies himself as someone who has both Grapheme Colour and Spatial Sequence Synaesthesia; a neurological 'phenomenon' where a person perceives words, letters, shapes, and numbers in colour or sometimes taste and smell. This he has used to his advantage in the creation of his debut album - a truly multi-sensory experience that transports us to all corners of England’s capital city, allowing us to experience the sights, sounds and even smells of London, as well as the hidden thoughts and emotions of London’s daily commuters.
