    In this edition of Radio Islam we start the New Year (2018) off by introducing a new segment, "The Jobs Report" from the Chicago Urban League's Employment Specialist Kimberly Pearson. We open the show commenting on the recent legalization of the sale of "recreational marijuana" in California, but also pose the question "what will be done with the thousands of inmates who are incarcerated over marijuana arrest?" Host, Tariq El-Amin suggest that their convictions should be expunged, and those in custody should be released (nonviolent offenders). In the last half of the show we explore the idea of comedians like Dave Chappelle being thought leaders. In every joke there is some truth, and the truths that skillful comedians like Chappelle are able to get audiences to think about, discuss, and act on suggest that they should not be seen merely as entertainers but as Thought Leaders.     Sometimes we walk around on a surface without truly appreciating the foundation underneath us. Dr. Bambade Shakoor-Abdullah was one of those unsung pillars of our community. SubhanAllah, she was so humble that many of her achievements didn't even become public until she passed, just a few weeks ago.
