The first episode of "What's Up Wednesday" where we ask you what's on your mind and talk about it. Host, Tariq I. El-Amin, opened up the show reflecting on a hadith (saying) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) demonstrating how husband's should value their wives. Afterward a variety of topics were covered, including a few offerings from callers.This was an at times light-hearted and other times serious conversation. We hope you enjoy it. We opened the show with a proper introduction of the host of Radio Islam, Tariq I. El-Amin a native Chicagoan, who shared a little bit about himself, while inviting our listeners to talk back to us on our Facebook Page. Balancing roles as an Activist, Imam of a Masjid, Husband & Father, Tariq relates that his role as husband and father are the most dear to him. In the first segment of the program we spoke with Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, Chairman of the Burma Task Force, live from the Bangladesh-Burma border to get an update on the conditions on the ground. He shared some harrowing accounts of the survivors, and also gave accounts of the Bangladesh citizens who have come to their aid. In this episode we talk with Cook County States Attorney Kimberly Foxx, the County's first African American State's Attorney, who at the time of this broadcast has been in office for 9 months & 19 days. Cook County has the 2nd largest prosecutors office in the country, and under her leadership has reevaluated its response to Juvenile Justice, Gun Violence, Immigrant Services, the Felony Theft Threshold, and community engagement. We also talked about her deliberate cultivation of diversity in an office that has historically lacked in this area, and Ms. Foxx also gave advise to aspiring prosecutors hoping to work for the Cook County States Attorney's office.
