Synopsis
A story of women and courage, a story of passion and pain, a story of immigration and return, a story of Italy‘s past and present, but mainly a story of women. A story of grandmother Assunta, mother Maria and granddaughter Assunta that encircles their experiences, lives, families, children and the battle for their family symbol, “the Gran Bazar Universale.” A voyage of departures and arrivals between Gaeta, Italy and the United States, Assunta’s story speaks of this entire epoch, but above all that when women decide to battle for something or someone nobody can stop them, not even a murderer’s knife.

Assunta Parrella was born on December 26, 1951 in Brusciano in the province of Naples and her father’s birthplace. Her family brought her to Gaeta when she was little over one-year-old ant to her mother’s home. She was seventeen, married an American, and immigrated to the United States. She had three children: John, Anthony and Kathryn.
The marriage lasted seventeen years before the divorce. She returned to school and worked to support her three children in 1985 she started to work for the Department of Banking. On February 11, 1990 married. In 1999, she bought her home in the historical Gaeta Daryl. In 2005, to aid her son, she retired from the Department of Banking. Her son prematurely passed it was the mother‘s will to bring him back to her family. Assunta, chosen to be the President of association to the historical for her tenacious. On September 30, 2013 Daryl passed. On October 2014, she resigned as the President of the Association. When somebody asked her “Were you rather live.” She answers “I try do take the best out of the two worlds.”
