Synopsis
August 7, 2011: “Why I Believe in Dog”Speaker: Jim Vokoun-Robinson Yes... Dog. That is not a typo. People like to ruminate and blather on about how we should all try to be more Godlike. That is not a great idea, necessarily. Instead, let’s all try to be more Doglike. The reasons are many and obvious. Some of our greatest philosophers have agreed. It’s not just because some dogs are cute, cuddly and obedient. It’s not because dogs continually show what would appear to be unconditional love. It’s the Dog Days of Summer. This is the time to explore the many reasons why our furry animals with speech impediments actually may be some of our very best spiritual advisors.Rabies shots are not mandatory for attendance (unless, of course, you plan to bite somebody.) MUSIC NOTES:"Danza del Basenji Misti" (for piano, four paws), by Jim Vokoun-Robinson; dedicated to Billie Dawg and Opie Dawg"Where My Free Spirit Onward Leads", from the UU hymnal "Singing the Living Tradition", hymn # 324
