The early Christian Easter came from a great spiritual awakening, long shrouded in myth. Today we celebrate renewal of spirit and the abundance of life both within and around us.

Often we think of our spiritual lives as individual ventures – but our inner lives are inextricably tied to our culture and what is happening in the world. How do we bring together spirit and society? This service is part of our ongoing series based on BuxMont’s statement of identity.

We have all had wilderness experiences: times when life confronts us with uncertainty, fear or discomfort. Sometimes we choose to enter that state, but more often life puts us there without asking. The season of Lent invites us to embrace these times of wilderness and see what they have to teach us.Libby served as BuxMont minister from 1993-2000. Our current minister, Rev. Dan Schatz, will introduce Libby.

Unitarian Universalists have often given ourselves to the work of justice. That work is best when it is done in the spirit of compassion for all of humanity.

Relationships are wonderful and enriching, as well as difficult and complicated. Dr. Treat works with individuals, couples and families to foster an understanding of how family systems work and how they improve.

March 9, 2014: Nurturing WholenessSpeaker:  Rev. Daniel S. Schatz Our BuxMont Identity statement talks about “Nurturing Wholeness in society and spirit.” What does it mean to nurture wholeness in our lives and in the world around us?

Our Youth are living online through various social media and finding them enjoyable and a way to connect as well as stressful and deceptive. Join them as they share their perspective through words and music.

Each of us, young or old, helps to take care of the world around us. In this special intergenerational service, we’ll discover and celebrate all that we give in story and song.

What is the most important question to ask one another in community? This service, the fourth in our series on BuxMont’s identity, will be a special celebration of our community with words from Rev. Schatz and others.

January 12, 2014:Knowing Who We Are Speaker:Rev. Daniel S. Schatz   In order to move and act most effectively in the world, we must first know and understand who we are. Knowing ourselves and our purpose brings depth, spirit, and power to all that we do.

Do all our acronyms just confuse you? This service will explain what they stand for and why they are important. There were 1,018 UU congregations with a total membership of 165,796 as of 2011. December 22, 2013: To Light the Winter’s Dark – intergenerational solstice service Speakers:  Rev. Schatz, Dawn Star Sarahs-Borchelt and John Hook Our intergenerational BuxMont solstice celebration will honor the light of many religions and traditions, in December and throughout the year.

November 4, 2012: "Amish Forgiveness: Lessons from Nickel Mines PA" - Dr. David Weaver- Zercher, Professor of American Religious History, Messiah College On October 2, 2006, a gunman entered an Old Order Amish schoolhouse near Lancaster, PA, shot 10 school girls, killing 5 of them, and then himself. The Amish community extended forgiveness toward the gunman and reconciliation to his family. Many members of the public were astonished by the generosity of spirit exhibited bythe Amish community. David Weaver-Zercher, coauthor of a book on the incident entitled "Amish Grace," will describe the event, providing background on it and the Amish, subjects of his studies. He will devote special attentionto the phenomenon of their profound forgiveness and what it can teach us.A 12:30 p.m. discussion session with our speaker will follow the second service.
