Synopsis
August 6, 2011: Hiroshima Memorial ServiceSpeakers: Rev. Jerry Johnson and others. This annual Service commemorates the Hiroshima and Nagasaki tragedies of August 6 and 9, 1945. Participants continue the poignant tradition of folding 1,000 paper cranes before and after the Service.Co-sponsored by the BuxMont UU Fellowship's Peace & Justice Committee, and the BuxMont Coalition for Peace Action. Every year, the BuxMont Coalition for Peace Action marks Hiroshima/Peace Day with an event on or near August 6. Last year, following the tradition started by the novel, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, we collected over a thousand origami cranes to use during the event. MyPeaceCrane.org is a website where people from around the world can post pictures of paper cranes.
