Panthers with some mental errors early in the first period caused them to go down 2-0 after 1. Panthers went to the penalty box 6 times in the game, but stopped the Blackhawks going 6/6 on the PK. The Cats controlled play for the whole game but struggled with puck retrieval despite having the territorial advantage early on. However, the Panthers score 3 goals in 4:13 to take the lead in the 3rd. Chicago scores with 45 seconds left in regulation but Brandon Montour with the heroics scores the OT winner(a career high in goals) to send the Panthers home with 2 points.
