Florida had multiple miscommunications at their offensive blue line and in the neutral zone where the Lightning took advantage and took the early lead and never looked back. Panthers looked to have cut the deficit to 3-1 when Josh Mahura found a loose puck and scored, but it was wiped off due to Dmitry Kulikov being called for an illegal check to the head on Connor Sheary that led to the goal being disallowed and Kulikov being given a match penalty.
