Refugee Crisis On A Street Corner

Informações:

Synopsis

What does Toronto’s response to the refugee crisis actually look like on the ground? Just across the street from the Canadaland office, a crisis unfolded: dozens of asylum seekers camping out as they were unable to get space in city shelters. Some had been there for weeks. After the federal government and the city both pledged that more support would be given to the asylum seekers, many were still there -  being helped by a tenuous system of volunteers, donated goods, religious outreach and good samaritans.Join reporter Cherise Seucharan and Editor in Chief Karyn Pugliese as they follow asylum seekers at 129 Peter Street as they search for a place to spend the night. Credits: Jesse Brown, Host & Publisher, Cherise Seucharan, Reporter, Tristan Capacchione (Audio Editor and Technical Producer), Bruce Thorson (Senior Producer), Annette Ejiofor (Managing Editor), Karyn Pugliese (Editor-in-Chief)Further reading:On Peter Street, a community steps up for asylum seekers abandoned to sleep on t
