Sunday, February 5, 2023 - The message today is "Preparing to Run the Race." Whether it's a 100-yard dash or a 26-mile marathon, running a race requires preparation. Being properly prepared is the key to finishing, let alone winning. Similarly, preparing to run the "Christian race" requires adequate preparation. It's safe to say that many people that have given up on the Christian race probably were not prepared at the beginning and were given proper expectations of what to expect along the way. That's what this message is about. Our text is Hebrews 12:1-3. The writer of Hebrews instructs the runners (you and I) to throw off the things that hinder and the Sin that so easily entangles - before - one starts the race. We will discover the differences between the things that "hinder" and the "sin." Hindrances make the race more complex and challenging; Sin is a disqualifier. And there's so much more to discuss regarding hindrances potentially turning into Sin and, just as importantly, becoming "Stumbling Blocks"
